Best Touch Screen Monitor for Windows 8

Updated on April 16, 2013

Windows 8 Compatible Monitors and Displays

A guide to the best touch screen monitor for Windows 8? If you already have a desktop computer and you're not ready to upgrade it, but do want to move to Windows 8 and a touch screen interface then you can buy a Windows 8 compatible monitor.

Do be careful to choose a monitor that is Windows 8 compatible. Look out for 10-point touch support. There's not a huge choice at the moment, but lots more Windows 8 touch screen monitors will be coming out throughout 2013.

We'll cover monitors of a variety of sizes and budgets.

I'll update this page as we find out about new touch screen monitors that are released and available throughout the year.

Touch Screen Monitor or All-in-one

Touch Screen monitors are much more expensive than regular monitors. If your desktop machine will soon need an upgrade then you may want to consider an all-in-one (AiO) desktop touchscreen machine instead. We're seeing lots of new all-in-one Windows 8 machines with touchscreens and these can prove to be a better option if it also means you get an updated PC. And of course the cost of Windows 8 is also included.

Windows 8 Compatible Touch Screen Monitors

It can be rather confusing trying to work out which monitors work best with Windows 8 using touch. Some monitors are Windows 8 certified but do NOT support touch. Some Touch Screen monitors will work with Windows 8 but don't offer the 10 point touch capability supported by Windows 8.

10 Point Touch Monitors - Multi Touch

To get the best experience from Windows 8 you'll want a touch screen monitor that supports 10 point touch or multi touch. With 10 point touch you can draw with all ten fingers at once, play an onscreen musical keyboard, play games with multi-finger controls or resize and move photos using both hands at the same time.

Look out for monitors with 10 point touch or multi touch to get the best from Windows 8.

@BorednBroke: I know what you mean! We had to get a touch screen monitor for the family machine because my kids are so used to a touch interface. You always have to wait a while for the real reaction because just being different can make things harder to start with.

Against market expectations, Windows 8 didn't do as well as expected. Its still not clear who is to blame for the fizzle, Microsoft or the PC makers, with both sides blaming each other. Hope things would brighten with the expected relaunch of Windows 8 in Feb.
