Bluehost's 2017 Promotion: $4.95/month! Plus a Hotwire Coupon Code

What's your resolution for the New Year? Have a vacation planned? How about a new website for that blog you've always wanted to start? If you can't afford it, then how about we give you access to a Hotwire promo code that'll save you up to 40% off your next vacation.

Now that you're out of excuses, how about setting up your next blog at Blue Host?

Bluehost's regular year round pricing plan is $6.95/month, which includes unlimited space and a free domain name. But right now they're offering their plan at $4.95/month.

If you're looking to start a website or start off fresh with a new hosting company, Bluehost is offering their hosting plans at 30% off their regular rates.

The discount does not require a promo code as it will automatically apply when you visit their site with the link below:

3 Reasons to Choose Bluehost for Hosting your Website:

1. Unlimited Domains - as your website grows you may want to start expanding, perhaps buying up the .net and .org versions of your domain name, or making whole new websites (once you make one website it can get addictive!)

2. Unlimited Hosting Space - As your website's traffic grows, so does the amount of data that your host gives out. Many web hosts will either shut down your site, or automatically start charging you more. But Bluehost has an unlimited data guarantee. It's nice to not have to worry about being penalized for success!

3. Free Domain Name - With your web hosting plan you get a free domain name. That's not a special promotion, it's an every day offering.

Bluehost Uptime Statistics

Do They Live up to their 99.9% Guarantee?

Bluehost offers a guarantee of 99/9% for websites hosted with them. Most hosting companies have some kind of guarantee, and the 99.9% can sometimes be a bit of a cop-out to cover for bad service.

According to the excellent Web Hosting Review, the uptime for Bluehost's websites for the past year has been as follows:

  • 2012: 99.96%
  • 2011: 99.96%
  • 2010: 99.908%
  • 2009: 99.815%
  • 2008: 99.557%

A 99.9% uptime for your website means that your website will not go down for more than 43 minutes in a month.

As you can see here, the sample websites that Web Hosting Review used for their data have experienced better than 99.9% uptime for the past three years running, but Bluehost missed the mark just slightly in the two years before that. Hopefully that means Bluehost has become better and more consistent about minimizing and preventing website downtime.

Why Use Paid Hosting When There's Free Hosting?

This is a common question: sites like Wordpress.com, Weebly.com, and Livejournal.com offer you the ability to make a free website that they host, for free.

There's 2 main reasons that self-hosting your websites will benefit you long term:

1. It's almost impossible to make money from them - Wordpress.com, for example, does not allow you to put adsense ads, or any affiliate links on your website. Because, in reality, you don't own that website: wordpress does. They have terms and conditions, and if you don't follow them, your whole website could disappear in a flash. If you want to make a decent income off of your websites, then self-hosting is the way to go.

2. Your Website Will Look More Professional: Let's say your website is about potatocurry. If you have a wordpress site, your website's address will be "potatocurry.wordpress.com". Likewise with Livejournal and Weebly. If you're a business, it looks amateurish. With a self-hosted website you can have potatocurry.com. (Granted, I'm not sure how to identity a potato curry site as 'professional' versus 'amateurish', it's just an example!).
