buy a new laptop

Updated on July 15, 2010

If your thinking about buying a new laptop, then hearing about a 2 gigawhatt, with a 4.1 jigaMhz, and a 249 whackamole probably means nothing to you. Ok, i did just make those terms up, but if you don't understand what they mean it won't make much of a difference.

When your buying a new laptop, and your not really a big geek, the best things to look for are the points you understand. A 17" screen, most people will understand what that means. Does it include a DVD or Blu ray drive? How do you plug your printer in?

If your not a PC geek, then you really won't be caring much about the finer points of the performance. All you need to do is make sure you have a budget in mid for the amount you are willing to spend on you new laptop, and go to you local PC world type store. They will have a range lower priced than what you want, and more expensive than what you want.

Just have a look at them all. See what things you like about them, and what you don't.
This really is the best way to buy a laptop. It might be cheaper to buy that particular model online, so write down the things that you want to check for. You will also be able to give the store helper a hard time, by asking them questions, but don't feel pressured into buying.

You will be able to get a laptop just like the one you want easily online. Don't worry too much about name brands, as long as its one of the more popular brands of laptop, like dell, hp, Hewlett Packard, then you most important deciding factor will be the price, as all laptop manufacturers tend to price the same type of laptops at similar price ranges.
