Sony Walkman Mp3 Player
Sony Walkman Mp3 Player

Product Review: Sony Walkman Digital Media Player

So for the past couple years I have been anti-iPod and portable mp3 players. I wasn’t sure why I didn’t like them, when I was a kid I had the old school cassette tape Walkman that went every where I did; armed with mind blowing mix tapes of bands from every style and genre of music and comedy. Maybe I’m just an analog guy stuck in a growing digital world and I left it at that with my distaste for iPods and portable mp3 players unsettled.

Then one day my 6 year old daughter brought home a Sony Walkman Digital Media Player that her grandfather ordered for her from eBay. So she asked me to load some songs on it for her, reluctant to attach another gadget to my computer I said fine and told her to gather her CD’s of songs that she wanted on it.

I used the USB cable that came along with it to charge the mp3 player up while I ripped some of my little girls favorite tracks from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Kidz Bop CD’s.

I didn’t even need to use the enclosed CD-ROM disc with the driver, the Sony Walkman synced right up with my Windows Vista PC and Window Media Player where I could rip, encoded, transfer songs and create a play list.

I was impressed with this little device; the battery life is super long, like well over 8 hours of use.

It holds up to 2 gigabytes of music and video, comes with the USB cable for charging and syncing, the driver CD-Rom and a pair of ear bud head phones.

My daughter’s Walkman is a metallic pink color but Sony offers it in several colors and skin options.

Overall my opinion has changed of mp3 players and iPods; I found the device way more convenient than my classic cassette tape walkman from the 1980’s and 1990’s.

So I think I will soon purchase my own portable mp3 music and video player for myself. The price of the Sony Walkman is nice at less than $60 for most models, so I will probably purchase a Sony.

I was reluctant at first to use this device, but since I was getting paid to use it for two weeks I figured I could suffer through it for the extra income. My way of thinking was changed though.
