Updated on December 12, 2014

The Best Cool Accessories for Your iPad

Ready to start accessorizing and personalizing your iPad with some cool new toys? The iPad has been one of the must-have gadgets ever since it came out in 2010. With the release of its 4th Generation model as well as the iPad mini, this tablet is still going strong. The iPad has sustained its immense popularity because of the wide range of apps that are available in Apple's App Store. The App Store has everything you need for entertainment, lifestyle, business, and more. But apps are not the only thing that make this tablet awesome.

With everything it can do, you want to make sure you keep it protected. You also need to keep it stylish at the same time. And if possible, you can even add to the functionality of this already handy device. There are a lot of accessories out there to keep your iPad pristine, clean, cool, and then there are some that are just fun. I have included some of the more popular accessories in the review below.

iPad Cases and Covers - Add a level of protection with these cool cases

OtterBox Defender Series Case with Screen Protector and Stand for the iPad (4th Generation), iPad 2 and 3 - Grey/White

The OtterBox Defender Series Case with Screen Protector and Stand is compatible with the iPad 3 as well as the iPad 2 and provides 3 layers of protection to your tablet. This polycarbonate casing has pieces that snap and lock with each other making sure that your iPad is heavily protected while still giving you access to all buttons and ports. And it includes a stand that can prop up your device.

This is a 4.5 star rated item on Amazon reviewed by more than 1,000 customers who love it because of its tight, protective fit on the iPad which ensures that it will look pristine even when it gets old.

Whether you are playing music for a band in your garage or you are learning how to record video for your Youtube channel, this microphone stand is a simple but effective way to keep your tablet with you when you need it most.

Can anyone disagree that Garage Band has totally revolutionized the way that we record music. I remember hitting the record button on my cassette recorder, only to be totally grossed out by what I heard.

iPad Speakers - Speakers help amplify the sound, besides the internal speaker just won't cut it for regulating tones

This set of speakers isn't just compatible with your iPad, you can also use it for your iPod, iPhone, or nearly any music player with Bluetooth connectivity. You can stream music for up to 25 hours with just 4 AA batteries.

Oontz Angle Review by CNET

The OontZ bluetooth speaker works perfectly with the iPad or iPhone. I got one of these for my dad last Christmas and he loves it. It's easily portable so he can take it out on the patio during bbq's or on his boat. Don't let the brand name fool you, this small speaker packs a punch.

The battery life exceeds most speakers it's size (10 hours) and can be recharged easily after it's all drained down using the included USB cable.

The sound is also richer and fuller than most other comparable bluetooth speakers but at around half the price with the OontZ.

Just for Fun - These are just some fun things to make your iPad cool

ION iCade Arcade Bluetooth Cabinet for iPad
ION iCade Arcade Bluetooth Cabinet for iPad

For the arcade lover, this is a great thing to buy. Stick your iPad into this game cabinet and feel like you're right back at the arcade. You can download the Atari Greatest Hits app with one free game from the App Store with a purchase of this accessory.

I remember playing some of the arcade hits when I was a kid. We'd usually walk down to the 7 Eleven down the road and they would have Street Fighter 2 and other games that I always liked to play. Well, if you really want that experience, the iCade can deliver it directly to your home.

Fruit Ninja Apptivity Game

Apptivity allows you to enjoy your apps in an entirely new way. This particular item is for Fruit Ninja. This pack comes with a figure of the sensei and instructions for downloading the free HD Fruit Ninja app.

With the sensei figure, Fruit Ninja can be played by 2 people. One player takes on the role of the sensei, throwing fruits in the way of the other player, the fruit ninja.

Each player takes turns playing as the sensei and the ninja. The one with the highest number of points as the ninja wins the game. It has turned an individual game into a social activity.

There are a lot of other accessories for your iPad depending on what things you might want to do with it. You can get water resistant pouches if you're the outdoorsy type. Or you might want to buy specially made camera lenses if you like experimenting with photography. Must have accessories aren't limited to just what is on this list but it depends on what you want and need for yourself.
