Data Recovery From Flash Drive: Guidance

Updated on November 15, 2016

Is it possible to recover data from flash drive?

It'll be pitifully to loose not only entertainment files, such as pictures, photos, videos, but also important data, such as passwords for different sites, emails or electronic cash-boxes, some important programs, clients database, etc. Sometimes it's even impossible to collect all these information again. And all this may lead unpleasant consequences. This question is especially urgent for people, who don't make backups. Is it possible to recover data from flash drive? Easily! You'll need only one program, which successfully deals with its functions. If any time you plug in the flash drive and see this window, the utility will be very helpful.

There are several causes, why the problem may appear. It may be simple system error (in this case you can try to reboot the computer), problems with USB header (it can be checked through using the flash drive in another working computer). The third cause is that flash drive is broken on the technical level. The controller could have burn, and it is charged with the gadget work. The problem may hide in burn memory chip. If you have this very variant, the data often just can't be repaired. You'll have to go to the service. The forth reason is that the structure of data spoils and the access closes. It's not so terrible, as the reason mentioned above and it's possible to recover the data as they aren't lost.

If you need to determine, that you have the forth type of problem, you need to use one of the programs for data recovery. The best utility programs in this case will be Recover My files and R-STUDIO.

The program has found lost files and is ready to recover it.

It's simple to work with both programs. The main buttons here are "Scan" and "Recover" and they are added to the main window of the program and it's impossible to skip them. For recovering lost or damaged data from flash drive it's enough to run one of these utilities, insert flash drive into the computer, wait till your device will be showed in the left window of programs and choose it as the main device, which will be analyzed. After you tick the point you need there, you'll have to choose "Search" or "Start search". At the end of this process we see such result - all the found files will be showed in the left window. The files will be divided by categories. You may choose concrete category and recover data particularly from it. But you also may choose all of them and you'll get full archive with all information, which was on the flash drive before its damage.

To recover everything you need to press "Menu" and here choose "Recover all files". Then a window appear, where you can choose the place for saving and a lot of other options, which you can leave as they are or change.

After all data will be saved in the chosen folder, you can see the full structure as it was on the flash drive before its crash. We should mention that if you use programs in automatic mode, most of the files will be totally recovered. But sometimes it happens so that data is damaged very much and the program can't find the folder, where this or that file was situated. If some important for you information hasn't been recovered, you have to repeat this process, but manually. For these you go to "Menu", there choose "Disk" and press "Open files ordered" In the opened window choose the meaning, which is most suitable for you. You may begin from "Valid structure of file system". It's probable that recovered files are situated on the recovered structure of the flash drive. If not, don't panic and try to search the file according to the date when it was done or the time of last change. You may use such entries as "Time of creation" or "Time of change". When the files ate found, the program will give you a chance to save them manually. This case worth doing everything by hand, because the automatic mode may not be able to find everything. After all the data is recovered, you may try to repair your flash drive, because it's not as difficult, but it's another article. Remember, that for successful data extracting you need to study the interface carefully, read all the comments and prompts, because wrong actions may cause the opposite effect.

But these tips will be useless when your flash drive has physical damage. In this case you should contact the data recovery specialists. Here you can find more information on this matter.

I've been very lucky to have a licensed computer technician as a good friend - he's gotten us out of more than a few data recovery fixes.
