Easy Fix Sky Box Problems

Easy fix solution...

Want to know how to easily fix your Sky box? or is your Skybox plus giving you problems? If your sky box won't turn on then follow these easy fi steps, Do not spend an hour on the helpine phone again!

If the green light on your skybox will not turn on, and stays on red, or you are getting a technical message, then the probability is that your box needs re-set.

Simple easy Sky Box Fix.

This is a life saver if you have tried to phone Sky themselves as you know it can take ages for them to answer and even longer to get your box up and running.

Follow these easy instructions to get your Skybox fixed.

Fix Sky Plus box Problems

Help is here if your Skybox won't switch on!

There are two options on how to fix your sky plus box problem, I have used both

1. This will not erase your stored and saved programme- so try this first

First unplug the skybox from the mains,wait one minute.

As you are plugging the socket back in Press the BACKUP button on the box (not the remote) and hold.

Wait until all the lights come on the front of the box. (release button)

Wait the full 10 minutes or until the lights go out then switch on from the remote. After about one minute of the message SEARCHING FOR LISTINGS, it should come back on to full service. (do not skip the 10 minutes, you will see the message on your TV. If you do anything in between you will lose all your saved Data)

After a recent Electricity blackout, we used the above procedure to fix our sky plus problem

2. WARNING this will format the HDD drive and you will lose all recordings.

Unplug the box from the mains plug for 2-3 minutes.

Press and hold the buttons either side of the select button on the box while plugging the socket back into the mains.

After 20-30 seconds the light will change colour and you have to wait 20 minutes till it goes back to red. Then press TV guide to see if it is working.

This should reset all the hard drive parameters and solve the problem.

Please let me know if it works (this is the option Sky give you if you phone them...not the above one that would save all your Data?

      having a problem with my sky box. red light stays on and it wont change to green. some1 help? it has been like this for hours

      Option 1 worked for us after we'd had a power cut! Had to wait a few minutes after the update before it would turn back on, originally reverted back to the standby light so didn't think it had worked but then sprung back to life! Thank you very much for the help and advise!!!

      Have got the sky+ box to come back on after using option 1 but it will not let me into the planner, it just says a sky+ error has occurred. Help?

      I've never heard of sky so peeked in to see if it could related to the problems we are having with our TV. They put up our dish in the fall when the leaves were off the tree so here it is summer and our big bushy trees are interfering with our television programming lol. It's driving my hubby absolutely nuts.

      yes, great solution No1 (Keeping the data) worked perfectly.

      had to wait a couple of minutes and got an error message "your sky box is unresponsive" and a couple more tries to turn on from the remote, and all is well.

      Option 1 worked first time - quite a relief - many thanks for a quick and cost-free fix.

      I think the first stage took 12-13 minutes for the lights to go out so have patience and persevere - it'll take longer to buy a new box.

      Number 1 worked with one exception ,I had to turn the box back on from the top of the box, the remote would not turn it on.

      @anonymous: Switch off for at least 30 seconds at plug, then try the steps as such!

      on my sky plus box the red button just keeps flickering really fast and have to wait about 3 hours for it to go green. any suggestions?

      @anonymous: Oh bobbi! So glad it worked! Hasn't the GB team done us proud! Wow and Mo Farrah last night Yes I think everones Sky box went down over the last few weeks and luckily were able to try these steps!!!

      This is very useful to know. Our Sky box occasionally goes wrong. We are hoping to upgrade to HD soon though, so that means a new box, and new problems maybe.
