how to use autoresponders for internet marketing

Updated on September 3, 2009

Anyone in Internet marketing should have an autoresponder

An auto responder may be considered as the best tool in an internet marketers system.

When I was new to marketing online, I had no clue about where to start. All i knew was that I was going to make a six figure income overnight and boy was I misinformed. It took a whole week. No I'm only kidding now, but don't get disillusioned. But were a little of topic already.

The reason you are reading this is that you are probably still stumbling around on the internet trying to set yourself up a new website and have possibly chosen to do something along the lines of affiliate marketing or a website business.

If I have to look back now and figure out which tool was the most useful and would have been great to understand and know existed, I would have to say it was the good old trusty email auto responder. It never slept, never broke and was working 24/7 365 days a year.

When I went on vacation once, the techs department put a message reply on all my incoming mails to say that I was away on holiday and would be returning on such and such a day.If there was any urgent business to be discussed, they would be able to contact my secretary and should relay the message to me if possible. The clients were all happy that they recieved the notification almost immediately that I was not in the office.

What I hadn't realised until many years later was hat I had already been introduced to an email autoresponder. The fact that a reply was programmed in the form of a message telling my customers I was on vacation, was just fantastic. An automatic response to an email I received.

The Internet Marketing Email Autoresponder

So how does this apply to internet or affilaite marketing

Any good business is all about the service and quality of workmanship provided to your customer. So imagine if your internet business was automated and that you were able to have a preprogrammed response set to launch for every time you received a new email. Even a thank you message would show a tremendous attention to detail. This is the essence of the tool that is an autoresponder.

So I must ask you. To what lenghts will you go to improve your internet business. You have so far learnt that you most definitely need to have a product to sell and you will need to have a place to sell your products. But now what if your are not availabel to be around when you get an order via email. How do you respond before losing your client and if you have built up a database of new clients, how will you be able to inform them of any new offers that you are promoting.

The answer is simple. Get your internet business as automated as you possibly can from the start.

I am fortunate that my hosting company provided a control panel for my website that included a free autoresponder. There are free autoresponders in the marketplace.

The most popular autoresponder that is used by affiliate marketers is still Aweber.

What have we learnt

We know that an autoresponder is a workhorse if you know how to use it in affiliate marketing.

As I am sure by now, you may realise that the world online is telling you that the secret is in the lists. Why do they say this, because if you are going to succeed at all, you are going to need to be able to build your list on a continuous basis by using your email autoresponder and maintain that list by being able to stay in regular contact and keeping them posted of news, reviews and updates of your product offerings.

Now what I can tell you is that after the first few bulk emails to your database that you have to keep typing each email one by one and copy and pasting a few hundred times, you will start to question how the other internet marketers do it. Then all of a sudden, a light will go on that every day you stiil recieve those emails form the marketers who are helping teach you via their email courses and sending you gifts to help with your marketing campaigns. They are all using an email autoresponder.

I hope this helps you to take your affiliate marketing or email marketing business to the next level.
