You may think that just by clicking the delete button that your file is gone forever. But just because you cannot find it does not mean it is not there. In fact anyone who comes across your computer can access those deleted files and see everything that you once thought was gone forever. In a world where identity theft is on the rise, it is more important than ever to keep your personal data and documents hidden from view.

Your Personal Data is Still on Your Computer! ...Even Though You Deleted It!

Are you at Risk? Have You Permanently Erased Your Files?

You can't just erase files with your computer and expect them to be gone.

Do you think you may be at risk? Do you already have a software program to eliminate unwanted files or information of a sensitive nature? This is a necessity if you want to be kept safe from the perpetual attacks spammers make on computers every day.

There is so much data in a hard drive that you will probably never even know about. All kinds of data from your download history, deleted emails and chat logs and more is all still sitting on your hard drive. Even if you don't know how to see all these deleted files, the spammers and identity thieves do and that's the problem. With the software available online, it is actually very easy for someone to get all kinds of information about you from the "deleted" files on your computer.

What if I deleted my browsing history in my browser?

Guess what? That data is still on your hard drive.

Have you ever found your internet website browsing history and deleted all of it? Did you know that all of that information about every website you have ever been on is still on your computer? You may think it's all been deleted but unless you get a hard drive cleaning program you will not be able to hide from those who want your personal information.

Is Your Credit Card Number on Your Hard Drive?

It probably is unless you permanently erase your deleted files

And what about financial data on my hard drive?

A study involving 100 old hard drives that had been "erased" revealed over 3,000 credit card numbers. The data was lingering on these hard drives without the previous users of the hard drives ever knowing it. This is where NOT erasing your computers files permanently can be dangerous. Spammers know that a lot of people are not aware of this and will take full advantage of it.

Make Sure Your Deleted Files Cannot be Recovered

Erase Your Hard Drive's Data Forever

You should make sure that your files remain deleted when you dispose of them and they cannot be recovered by software. With constant attacks from spyware and adware you should make sure you are also protecting your privacy and good name by doing a clean sweep of your hard drive.

Great lens! A lot of people don't release a file isn't truly deleted on their hard drive. It's simply marked as "ok" to write over again when the opportunity comes and then it's removed from plain view.

Anyone who really wants to erase data needs to use hard drive wiping software or similar programs. Only when other information has been written over a file numerous times does it truly become "deleted".

      Great lens!
