More Shops Offering Extreme Deals

There are lots of other Chinese online stores as well. The ones listed above are my favorites. Below you can find some more. Be sure to check out the guestbook as well - there are many nice comments with Chinese store recommendations!

Play-Asia.Com - Video games, electronics, and other goodies!

DinoDirect - Avoid this! I have bad experiences from DD (DinoDirect), and I am NOT the only one who does! DD is not even very cheap, quite expensive actually.

Quick Poll: Your Favourite?

Which one do you like the most?

See results

Things to Keep in Mind

  1. When ordering, use PayPal and common sense to ensure safety.
  2. Before ordering anything expensive, try ordering something inexpensive to test the stores. See if you are satisfied with different factors like delivery time and product quality.
  3. Delivery time is usually at least a week, but sometimes you have to wait more than a month. The delivery times depend on your location, stock status and the date you place your order (e.g. under Christmas the delivery times tend to be longer than usual).
  4. Sometimes (from my own experiences I'd say very seldom) you have to pay taxes or duties, depending on your location and order. I have never had to pay any taxes or duties.
  5. Avoid "genuine" products. Piracy is allowed in China so you really can't know what products are genuine and what aren't. Importing fake products is illegal in some countries, so at least make sure to check your country's laws and rules beforehand.
  6. Also, avoid ordering lasers and other dubious products. The possible punishments depend where you live and what you have ordered.
  7. Returning or changing products is difficult, if not impossible, due to shipping costs and some other factors.
  8. Use your common sense and everything should go smoothly and fine. Enjoy shopping! :-)

Do you know other Chinese stores offering extreme deals?

Did I miss something? Want to share your experiences? Your comments are always appreciated. :-)

You can get good deals in China in person. I lived in Shanghai for awhile. But most foreigners don't get good deals. You gotta know how to bargain because they do. And if you don't know... you'll pay a lot more.

What a great idea to offer ways to buy direct from China. A few years back I imported a product from a factory in China and it was truly amazing the quality yet cheap pricing

There are a lot of asian online stores, that sell electronics without a known brand name, but with good hardware. Most popular consumer electronics are nowadays phones and tablets

You can find all kinds of electronics on Asian online shops, from low- to top of the range products. Usually the price is 40-60% cheaper.

The famous brands manufacture their products in Asia, so the locals are learning the technology and are copying it pretty good. Just they can manufacture a lot cheaper with lower local salaries and without the cost of advertising and brand development.

Our regular retail stores also sell a lot of products, because they originate from a long chain of resellers. Every reseller adds alittle to the price to make profit and the retail store ads a lot to pay for all the salaries and rent for keeping up the store. These products are usually cheaper electronic accessories like cables, usb products, electrical equipment etc. Buying these products directly from Asia can nerf the price up to 50%. Most of these Asian online stores are wholesalers also, so they only operate a warehouse and a webpage to ship certain products all over the world. This can keep the price down to the end consumer.

      You can check out http://www.cheap-asia.com

That site has information, like reviews, ratings, user experiences and discussions, regarding asian websites for cheap products.

Haha, I noticed quite funny thing. :P

DinoDirect is selling Romisen RC-T6 flashlight (SKU A08340000D) for 67$, saying it's 1500 lumens. DealExtreme is selling the same flashlight (SKU 15686) for 59$, saying it's 500 lumens. That's difference of 1000 lumens. :D

You can end up with a ton of stuff you don't need by browsing through these websites, but if you have a little self-control, you can actually find some useful deals. I also recommend Meritline.com. They have deals for products in the $1-$10 price range and free shipping all the time, you just need to get the coupon codes first. You can usually get them from deal websites: http://www.bargainez.com/tags/meritline-com/

@Inertially: That's true! Recently I have noticed the same when I have posted my own reviews. For example, FocalPrice doesn't publish the bad points in product reviews. That's a real shame.

Looks like they now have new review-system. Let's hope they will publish real reviews. :P

@Inertially: Thanks for the recommendation. :-) At the moment I'm not going to do any Taobao orders, but when I am, I'll see if Henry is any cheaper/better agent. :-) I will then share my experiences.

Do you mind telling us what you ordered? :D

What I really don't like is that on many CN or HK based stores, there's a "harmonizing" process for product reviews. All the positive reviews are posted, the negative ones are mysteriously forever labeled as "pending approval" or actually never existed.

Anyone reading reviews for a product they're interested in purchasing should keep that in mind.

    • profile image

      Inertially 7 years ago

If you're looking for a Taobao agent, I recommend Henry.

He's based in Shanghai. He only charges 8% commission (of product+domestic shipping price) and international paypal fee. And a really BIG plus is, you get a 30% discount on China Air Mail shipping. Every other Toabao agent I've seen charges 18rmb+15rmb for every extra 100g. 30% off = 12.6+10.5 per 100g more. This adds up to significant savings as international shipping is pretty expensive.

You can contact him at henry1988323@hotmail.com and MSN @ huifeng-charles@hotmail.com.

I'm waiting on my package to arrive, but he's done an awesome job and great communication through MSN.
