Who ever thought of this application is a genius because millions of people will find it usefull.  Whether you misplace your iPhone at home, at work, or any other place the Find My iPhone cell phone locator can be used to find it instantly.

More On The Find My iPhone Cell Phone Tracker

Note: The Fine My iPhone app is now free to use after you have subscribed to a free iCloud account.

Okay, let's get down to business and tell you the Find My iPhone cell phone locator works. The first thing you need to do is sign up for a service called MobileMe. This is a service that allows you to synchronize all of your contact information across multiple Apple mobile devices.

You can enter a phone number into your iPhone and if you are subscribed to MobileMe, the phone number will instantly be added to the you're a iPod touch, your iPad,and your Macintosh computer. MobileMe uses a technology called pushed technology to automatically keep your Apple mobile devices synchronized ith each other.

MobileMe is not free but you can sign up for a free 60 day trial to see if you would like to keep the service. If after the free 60 day trial is out, you decide that you still like the service and you want to keep it, it will cost you a $99 for a one year subscription.

When you first sign up with MobileMe, you'll enter the serial numbers of your Apple mobile devices which will associate those devices with your MobieMe account.

After you have signed up with MobileMe you need to download and install the Find My iPhone application. The actual Find My iPhone app is free to download and install on your Apple mobile devices.

How To Use The Find My iPhone Cell Phone Locator

Now that you have a MobileMe account and you have downloaded and installed the Find My iPhone cell phone locator, you're ready to use it. Although this application is designed to find your iPhone if it is lost or stolen, it's a good idea to test the features to make sure everything is configured and working properly.

All you need to do is log onto a computer with an Internet connection and log into your MobileMe account. From within the MobileMe account you will be able to do several things. All we want to do right now is to try three of them out to make sure their working properly.

The first thing you should do is to try to locate your iPhone. Click on the link to Find My iPhone and you will instantly see the location of your iPhone on a map on your computer screen. Not only will it show you the location of your iPhone on the map, it will give you the actual street address of your iPhone. If you tried that feature and is working properly now it's time to move on to the next feature.

Sometimes you may lose your mobile device in your house, it can sometimes be hard to find. It could be under cushions, in bedding, under the couch, or anywhere. You name it, there are millions of places for your iPhone to hide in your house. The next feature will help you find your Apple mobile device by sending a command to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch that causes your mobile device to play a sound at maximum volume. This will work even if you have your device set to silent mode or you have the volume turned down really low. This alarm will sound from two minutes or until you find your device and stop the alarm.

The next feature that you should test is one of the two security features that the app has. This feature will send a command to your iPhone to lock the device with a password so that someone who finds your device won't be able to snoop into your sensitive personal information or use the device. This is a great feature. Most of the time you'll be able to retrieve your iPhone if you left it someplace like work or at a friends house but you might not be able to get there right away to retrieve it. With this feature, you can lock the device and rest easy knowing that your personal information is safe and secure.

If you phone was stolen, enabling this feature will disable your device so that the thief isn't able to be used by the jerk who stole it.

Find My iPhone Cell Phone Locator Security Feature

There is a really good security feature that you hopefully don't have to use.  In most cases you will be able to locate and retrieve your iPhone with the Find My iPhone cell phone tracker.  Sometimes things just don't work in your favor though.  Maybe someone found your mobile device and decided that they needed it more than you.  Maybe your device was stolen.

The first thing you should do when you realize that your device is missing is to log on to the MobileMe service and lock the device.  This will secure your personal information and give you time to find it.

If it doesn't look like you are going to be able to recover your Apple mobile device, you should use the security feature that wipes the device clean of all of your personal information.  It will delete your contacts, photos, and other important sensitive information that you don't want falling into the wrong hands.  Activating this feature will completely wipe the device clean and restore it to the original factory condition.

Make sure that you activate the security lock on the device if you don't think you'll be able to recover it.  This way the person who either stole or "found" your device won't be able to use it.
