Societies are becoming more technologically advanced. Technology has reached advanced levels & will even become more complex. There will be inventions of artificial intelligence technologies which will have an impact on humanity for either good or ill. As a result of advanced technology, those who possess a specialized level of skillsets & education will thrive while those who don't will become part of a permanent underclass. Will the advancement of technology create a WIDENING CHASM between socioeconomic classes? Why? Why not?

A woman is held captive by a scientist in a futuristic smart house, and hopes to escape by reasoning with the Artificial Intelligence that controls the house.
I would say no as this is similar to saying: Literacy is spreading, more and more people are reading and writing, will this create a divide?
The new generations are being introduced to tech earlier and earlier and to them, it's going to be natural. It will be harder for the current population, for sure.
In the far distant future, I see a rebellion. In those days they will rebel against technology. They will stop the madness which increased as time went on. They will go back to growing food, harvesting crops and appreciating nature. They will find beauty in the world which God created and cease the endless quest for ever more entertainments and ever more creative BS.
And yet, if people can market easily via technology, that, of course, is a very good thing. It will take picking and choosing wisely how we use the tools provided by technology. It will take keeping in touch with our humanity, common sense and our instinctive love of peace and simplicity.
... perhaps, eventually, technology, well utilized, will bring about a closing of socio-economic gaps.
