               I am not talking about a particular party, I don't know any particular American liberal parties, but liberalism is based on unrestricting peoples lives, and that is what the political standpoint represents.
               
               And how does this relate to the Orwellian prediction of the future human language?

                  In the United States, "Liberal" is a synonym for "Democrat".  Democrats (more or less) want socialist-leaning policies enacted.
                  
                  In the UK, "Liberal" refers to "classical liberalism", which is all about the "unrestricting of people's lives" as you wrote.
                  
                  It is unfortunate that the two words mean very different things depending on which side of the ocean you are on.  "Libertarian" is probably the closest to what "Liberal" means for the UK.
