HiFi and Audiophile Equipment: Turntables, Amplifiers and Speakers

Updated on January 18, 2015

Audiophile Turntables, Amplifiers and Speakers

After many years designing audio equipment at work and trying to get the perfect vinyl-playing system at home I think I now have the perfect system (and it's pretty good for Home Cinema too)

Working as a design consultant for the silicon chip industry during the day, making ever cheaper electronic components for digital mainstream equipment, I wanted something very different at home: an analogue system with a turntable, phono-stage pre-amp, valve amp and a pair of big electrostatic speakers. Modern digital equipment is extremely good value for money and makes listening to music so easy to do at any time, but there's something special about waiting for the valves to warm up the carefully extracting the vinyl from it's sleeve, cleaning and placing the stylus into the groove.

Here is my perfect system: Follow links to articles about each of the components...

Others may disagree, so please add your comments or details of your perfect system below.

Analogue is better by far. After-all, my ears are analogue.

    No. Too much hassle
