How to protect from such adware in future

Obviously, you already have some antivirus solution installed (AVAST, AVG, Norton, Kaspersky). And probably you had it when Couponarific infected your PC. So what should you do? Well, be careful. It is not that difficult. Don't click on banners ads in your browsers. Don't visit adult sites - they spread such things often. Or you can install additional protection - Malwarebytes AntiMalware and SpyHunter both have active protection module that will not conflict with your current antivirus. Their database is more specific to threats like adware, spyware, keyloggers.

What else? Look carefully at what you are offered during installation of ANY program. Even big one - Adobe Flash Player and Java Update can bring you Ask Toolbar - which is not very necessary. Read EULA (License Agreement), look at checkboxes and installation options. All this simple measures will help you to be free from adware and spyware.
