Learn how to scan and translate a document fast

If you have old books in foreign languages that you want to digitize and translate to English, what’s the easiest solution to get this done fast? Or imagine you have a pile of old printed business documents that need to be saved on a PC and then translated to English or a foreign language. How can you do that quickly without having to type every page of each document and then translate all of them?

It seems complicated and time-consuming, but don’t worry, you have Systran to help you complete this faster than you think.

Step 1 - Scanning your documents

When you scan documents, these are saved in PDF, JPEG, GIF or PNG format. The OCR software is the one that converts the image to an editable text format, like .doc or .txt.

One thing to consider when dealing with OCR software is that if the document is not very clean (without any marks or smudges) it may not convert correctly. It can skip words, not recognize certain letters or even replace them with others, like a B with an R. So, first thing you need to do after the document is converted to text is to check and see if it’s accurate before translating it.

For business documents where accuracy is extremely important, we can recommend two excellent tools: Readiris(for Asian languages) or OmniPage(for European languages).

Step 2 – Translate with just one click

This is where it gets even easier. With Systran’s translation software installed on your computer, you can translate your documents with just one click of your mouse. You have such a wide list of languages available that you can translate to and from, such as: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese and many more. Your translation should be completed in a matter of seconds and with an impressive level of accuracy that only Systran can provide, out of all the other translation tools available.
