iPad Cup Holder Mounts - iPad Car Cupholder Mounting Stands

Updated on July 3, 2013

Whichever version of the Apple iPad you own, it makes a perfect in vehicle companion for you or your passengers. The versatility of this gadget has opened up a huge range of apps which are useful for the driver in so many different ways. Whether it's for navigation via GPS or map apps or for keeping you passengers entertained, or the kids quiet in the back, the iPad has a massive range of options for mobile applications.

Holding an iPad in a car while driving isn't a smart idea and for your passengers it is going to be annoying to not have their hands free for the duration of a journey. Yes, it's nice to watch a movie while you are being driven somewhere but if you have to hold the screen the whole way it is going to get uncomfortable.

That's where mounting kits and iPad holders come into play. There are various ways in which you can mount an Ipad in a vehicle which will largely depend on the application to which the device is to be used. Cupholder mounting kits are one of the more versatile options as these can work for both front and back seat use.

Find The Best iPad Stands Which Fit In The Cup Holder Of Your Car

iPad cupholder mounts are quite plentiful but finding a good one is not so easy. One of the most consistently well performing makers of iPad mounts and indeed, mounting kits for all kinds of devices and situations, is RAM. The best iPad cupholder mount is this one by RAM in my opinion. It gets the best customer reviews and provides a solid and sturdy base for attaching an iPad to a car cupholder or other vehicle's drinks holders.

How They Work and Why You Want One

iPad cupholder stands use the vehicle's inbuilt drink holders as a base from which to create a secure mounting point. The plastic mount base fits snuggly into the cup holder and create a firm base for holding the attachment in place. The iPad itself is mounted onto a rotating arm which will swivel and turn to provide the user with the optimal viewing angle. Mounts like this are designed to fit into a wide range of car cupholders no matter how deep or shallow, wide or narrow.

A cupholder stand mounting kit for iPad 1 or iPad 2 is ideal for keeping your favorite gadget at hand when you are on the road. Even if you do not intend to use it while driving, it's nice to have it securely at hand for when you need it. Say, you're waiting to pick someone up or you are stuck in non-moving traffic due to an accident, you've got an entertainment option on hand while you wait. It sure beats staring at the steering wheel.

Keep Your Cup Holders Free With A Similar Alternative

Yes, OK so cup holders were one of the simplest yet most important inventions to hit the auto market since the invention of the automobile and you didn't buy your car to go filling them up with iPads rather than drinks. There are alternatives to the cup holder mounting kits on this page incuding vent mounts, windshield holders and for the rear seat, headrest mounts. The most similar to the cup holder mount for the driver however is the following mount which clamps on to the seat rail and uses a gooseneck stand to bring the device up to a comfortable viewing level...about the height of one in a cup holder actually and hence why this is a really goog alternative to using one of those types of mounting kits.

These are handy holders. I don't have an ipod, but if I ever get one a holder will be next. :)

Nice lens! These iPad car mount accessories are great. I spend a lot of work hours on the road and being able to turn my car into a mobile office (using it safely of course!), is a necessity for me.
