Kobo Glo Cases

Updated on October 31, 2013

The Best Kobo Glo Cases, Covers And Sleeves For Your eBook Reader

Before the Kobo Glo eReader is even out on the market, there are already many great Kobo Glo cases, covers and sleeves available at Amazon and other online and retail stores. And let me tell you, they are gorgeous! While the Kobo Glo ereader comes in 4 different colors, the cases come in lots of colors and designs including polka dots, eco styles and traditional ones.

If you're looking for something more expensive and durable, the leather cases will fit the bill to perfection. Alternatively you might simply want a plastic sleeve to keep your ebook reader comfortable while you're

reading. There is a cover for everyone out there, all you need is pick your color, design and material.

As time passes, there are more and more covers, cases and sleeves appearing on the market practically on a daily basis, so I will update this list of Kobo cases and accessories regularly.

Note: If you have a Kobo Touch, many of these cases will match it as well - I will mention if you can use a case with both eReader types.

Official Kobo Glo Case

If you've got the latest Kobo Glo in your hands and need a good case for it, I think the first place to check is the official source. Afterall it was made by the manufacturer itself. It has a great, tight fit and all the perks that a good quality eReader cover should have:

It switches on or off the reader when you close or open the cover.

It actually gives you the feeling of holding a real book in your hands.

The KoboFit clips that have been specially made for this eBook reader, hold the gadget quite tightly and snugly so that it's easier to protect it from bumps or hits. I think it's a case that is well worth checking out.

Btw, watch the video below which shows the case in action as well towards the midtime.

How I Came Onto Checking Out The Kobo Glo Cases

First let me preface by saying this that I don't have a Kobo Glo. But I almost did. I wanted an eBook reader real bad and for Christmas I decided I would get myself one. The Glo just came out in the market and it was not yet available except in Canada, I think. I liked the reviews and specs for it, and I decided I would get it as soon as it's avaiable in Europe. It was this or the new Kindle Paperwhite - however I didn't really like the Paperwhite because you had to use the Kindle ebook format - so buying an ePub book from another store was kind of out of the question.

In the meantime while waiting for the new eReader, I started researching for cases. We have an electronic store nearby our home so I spent literally an hour or more looking at the various design, plus I checked several online stores and reviews by people who bought them, to know which one to buy.

However much to my surprise, just before Christmas there was a major sale for the previous iPad (v. 3) models, and the offer was too good to pass. For the original price I could never afford an iPad, it was a dream for me, nothing more, but at half a price, it was just a bit more than I'd shell for a finally the iPad became my Christmas present - half paid by me and half by my hubby.

However I didn't want my Kobo cases research to go to waste, hence here is what I learned, hopefully to be of help to you as well.

Tuff-Love Cases For Kobo Glo

Tuff-Luv Slim Book-Style Leather Case Covers For Kobo Glo And Touch

These are some awesome faux-leather cases for the Kobo Glo and Touch eReaders. They fit both ebook readers perfectly and here are plenty of gorgeous colors to choose from, from shiny to matte. The dimensions are 8.3 x 4.9 x 0.4 inches for the matte colors and 8.3 x 4.9 x 0.4 inches for the bright color covers.

The cases have corner straps that secure the Kobo Glo in place while reading or traveling with your eReader. Each case comes with an inside compartment for storing documents while on the road.

Here is my favorite one, in light blue/black. When you click through you will find the other 3 fun colors to choose from.

Tuff-Luv Sleek Jacket Case Cover With Patriotic Design

Right now Tuff-Luv has two designs with the Union Jack motif, and both are simply beautiful. The material is faux-leather and the touch and feel is great. Each cover has the elastic closure loop that keeps the Kobo Glo in place while reading. The cases also have a soft Nubuck inner lining and a recessed band for reading your books with one hand only.

Tuff-Love Embrace Series Cases For Kobo Glo And Touch

The "Embrace" series of Kobo Glo cases by Tuff-Love have various colors and designs, and while most are made of faux-leather, there is one that is genuine leather. So if you want to get the real deal, you can do that now. However I am a strong believer in faux-leather, I've found that the cases can last just as long and with proper care and cleaning, I can use one cover for as long as I have that very reader.

My favorite one of the batch is the red one shown here. I love the deep dark red of the cover and the faux leather is quite strong and durable too.

Gizmodo Dorks Covers, Cases And Sleeves For Kobo Glo

Gizmodo Dorks Kobo Glo Covers

While the range is not so large (yet) as for the Tuff-Love, the quality is there and the colors are beautiful as well. The material for the covers is hard polyurethane which keeps the eReader in place. When purchasing one of these covers you also get a cute key chain as gift.

Gizmodo Dorks Kobo Glo Sleeves

Gizmodo Dorks has also sleeves for the new Kobo Glo. They are neoprene zip cases in black with various side covers. Each purchased sleeve comes with a gift key chain (a nice extra touch) and the front of each sleeve has front pouch for keeping smaller belongings (papers, etc).

While not as sturdy as a case or cover, the sleeves still manage to keep the reading device in place secure while enjoying a book or traveling with the eReader.

Same design as the previous one with a lovely brown color combination, it also has the velcro closure and it keeps the eBook reader safe in place. It's made of soft neoprene.

Screen protectors are a great help when it comes to eReader lasting longer. They actually keep the gadget from getting scratches all over, fingerprints and dirt. Very durable protector film that can be easily applied, removed or re-positioned when needed.

I've always wondered why people cover their ereaders with those wild pattern cases (such as the UK flag one). I prefer the simple black cases (if any). Tho I dig the book-style cases you showed above.

Great lense altogether, make sure to write more of them like this!

I bought (on a sweetheart price) the Gizmo Dorks (not Gizmodo!) frameless cover. It is excellent, very slim, and really doesn't add a lot of bulk to the Glo. I used to use a Sony PRC-T1, and would still be using Sony if they had implemented a means of front-lighting the screen. I found the glare from the Sony case with light to be a pain in the butt (I suffer from insomnia so I read a lot in bed at night, and my wife is bothered by the Sony's light as well as by the Pertzl cycling headlamp, and the Glo is the least bothersome for her as I use it on minimum brightness in the total dark), and the Glo's screen is exceptional (although I really don't believe their battery life claim...) - so much so that I am tempted (like Kindle) to keep the backlight on all the time.

To date, the Glo is the best e-reader except for the fact that the Sony is head and shoulders better when it comes to PDF files! Fortunately I have mainly tech manuals in PDF format and I send them to my iPad where the colour screen improves their legibility. The Sony's reflow blows the Glo's "windows on the page" system.

The photos however show them fitted to a Kindle, and the sizes of the Kobo and Kindle is slightly different....Will they fit?

To be honest, I had not heard of Kobo until now. Things change so quickly these days with new and interesting products being added all the time. I do agree these cases are really nice.

The cases here almost make it worth looking into getting The Kobo Glo. Never heard about before this before.

I didn't even know about the Kobo Glo. What rock have I been living under?

@gottaloveit2: Until recently I've been living under the same rock as I've only heard about Kobo a months or so ago when I was researching for alternatives to the Kindle (because it doesn't work with epub files). First I wanted a Sony PRX-T2, but the Kobo has some great features that convinced me to get it - plus it'll be easily available pretty much all over the world from Oct. 1.
