Pay For Performance SEO

Updated on May 20, 2011

Pay For Performance SEO

If you have a commercial website you will undoubtedly understand that in order to make conversions or sales you first need traffic. One of the most important sources of traffic is search engine referrals. Search engines provide the primary means to navigate the web and locate information, products and companies.

The role search engines play is so important that an entire industry has been founded around them. The purpose of this industry is to raise the visibility and profitability of those businesses who use there services. I am of course talking about Search. For the most part these SEO or Search Engine Optimization Companies do what they set out to do, but there are frequent occasions where no discernible benefit is seen by the client. When you consider the high ticket price associated to SEO and the fact that no reputable SEO company will guarantee results it looks like the SEO companies have it all their own way and all the risk is put on the client.

However there are is a new breed SEO companies who offer Pay For Performance SEO, which has nothing to do with pricing for 'time on job' but everything to do with achieving the goals of the SEO campaign. This could simply be improved search engine rankings but could also include other Key Performance Indicators such as, increase opt-ins by X%, increase online market share by X%, or increase customer acquisition by X% plus many more.

Pay For Performance SEO puts the risk squarely in the hands of the SEO company, at worst you will have to pay is the cost of an initial website audit but then nothing else until the campaign goals have been achieved. So if you are thinking about approaching a professional Search Engine Optimisation company for help, be sure to ask if they offer Pay For Performance SEO.

gabriel, If the outcomes are specific, clearly outlined and measurable the contract is not to difficult to put together, also it completely kicks feature creep into touch.

While I do all my own SEO work, if I was going to outsource it, pay for performance SEO is the only way I would go.
