Review: HP Notebook PC 2000

Updated on July 26, 2014

Buying A Laptop

This laptop is the first and only computer I ever owned. Unless you consider phones, mini-computers now a days. So I know a little about computers in general but I'm no expert. So I went to a friend for advise on which brand was best for laptops. And, it had to be a reasonably priced one as well. Although an Apple product would have been nice, money in my wallet is nicer. So he gave me a few suggestions and HP was one of them.

So I started looking around on the inter-webs and came across this pc that met my needs (the basics). And, it was on sale during the holiday season. So I jumped on it and got it for $298.00 plus tax it came out to $325.84 so a little less than what it cost here which is $369.96.

Ease of Use

Now I know a lot of people don't like windows 8. But, if you give it a chance you'll be fine with the changes. There are a few things that I had to get rid of though to make it comfortable working with. A quick google search and I found the solutions.

One problem was when you swipe slightly to the left it would bring up another app that was open or a side bar with all your apps that were open. Sometimes I'd find that convienient but it would happen accidently which was the problem. Best solution is to buy a usb mouse.

I have used computers that ran windows before but that was when I was in High School mostly (where I got good at using computers in the first place). But after High School I had used Macs for a couple of years. Which made me forget where everything was at in the first place. So jumping into windows 8 was no problem for me. I had to learn just the new stuff and not the old.

A few of the Specs for the Average Consumer:

  • AMD Dual-Core E-300 Accelerated Processor
  • 15.6" Diagonal HD LED-backlit display
  • 4gb System Memory
  • 320gb Hard Drive
  • 3 USB ports
  • Speaker and Headphone ports
  • HDMI port
  • Ethernet port
  • Weighs 5.4 Lbs.

Anything else you can check the Amazon link.

Quality Buy?

This laptop is great for anyone that needs all the basic functions and even good for some pc games. Cheap enough for a gift to a college student. Works well and has a good amount of memory. I use it to create images, using Gimp, play Left 4 Dead (pc game), Netflix (which came already downloaded), listen to music, watch DVD's (I did have to download a media player for this I chose VLC media player), and of course to browse the web (recommend to download a different browser than internet explorer). There's still a lot more I haven't done with this laptop that I plan to do. But, It has done nothing but good things for me so far and I had it for a good amount of time now (since Dec. 2013).
