Roc Nation Aviator Headphones: What You Need To Know

Updated on May 19, 2010

Jay-Z's Response To Dr. Dre?

A few days ago Skull Candy announced that they would be partnering with Roc Nation to produce a new line of fashion headphones, the Roc Nation Aviators. Roc Nation is a music production company founded by Jay-Z and the Aviator model seems to be in direct response to the acclaimed Beats by Dr. Dre headphones manufactured by Monster Cable.

To the right is Skull Candy's new promotional video for the pair.

Roc Nation Aviator Features

At around $150 expected retail, you need to have some pretty nice features to justify your price point and luckily the Skull Candy delivered. The headset is made out of stainless steel and aluminum so it is durable as well as stylish. In addition, the earcups fold and it fits into its own included carrying case for even more protection.

On the audio side of things, they will have some excelled neodymium 40 mm drivers which will reproduce the full range of human audible sound (20-20k Hz). It also has a nice in-line microphone which will allow you to answer calls on your cell phone. The cable is braided which should help protect it from shorts, but I'd still avoid yanking it around at this price.

As the June release date comes around I'll keep you posted with more information on this exciting new announcement from Skull Candy!
