The Internet is a great place for kids

Children are smarter than we give them credit for. They are tuned into the Internet in ways we could not have imagined when we were small. The Internet is populated with great sites for kids. There are fun activities, homework help and other projects on the Internet that all kids can enjoy. Some of them are projects that get the kids out of the house and away from the computer.

We have a 9-yr-old child and constantly monitor the sites he visits. This lens was created for him. It will not stop him from surfing the net but with all his favorites in one place, there is less need. There is homework help and other educational sites that he enjoys. There are video games.

All of these sites have been parent approved.

Interesting and entertaining activities - Free things to do

Hand shadows and so many other things to let kids entertain themselves.

Kid friendly research tools

Safe kid-friendly search engine and other reference sites. All of them easy to use.

Homework Fun - It's more fun to play with homework assignments than to do the boring drills

Homophones, spelling words, math drills and others can be taught with fun activities. Lots of good stuff here to make it interesting.

Science Fun - Just because it's a website does not mean that the kids have to sit at the computer

Being on the computer does not mean that the kids are stuck staring at a screen. Websites can take them to other places where they didn't expect to go. Science can be fun and there are some great ideas here.

      Great article. I love http://kidsooda.com.

They have over 1000 sites and they are all reviewed and categorized.

      It's for kids 9 - 13 years old. There's a wiki for moms too.

I'm bookmarking your article for sure!

I review and recommend kid safe web sites for the Kids Stuff page at Pastiche Family Portal. I'll add this page as a resource for parents on the site as well. Lensrolled and thumbs up.

This is so important to check out the sites your child uses. There is a lot of great stuff out there (but some harmful sites too).

I've lensrolled it to Cute Cats - Favorite Webpages for Kids.
