How to Search for Shabby Chic Blogspot Templates - Tips for finding what you're looking for

It can be difficult to browse for great blogger templates to create an amazing shabby chic blog, because most free blogger template sites have hundreds of templates all lumped together. It can be difficult to navigate these free template directories to find a particular style of template. It can take days, or even weeks to hunt through and find the template that's just right for your blog.

When doing searches for shabby chic templates, here are a variety of search terms you can use to come up with the style you are wanting. Try each of these adjectives mixed with the terms templates, backgrounds, and themes. If you have a blogger blog then be sure to search for Blogspot as well as Blogger.

  1. shabby
  2. girly
  3. scrapbook
  4. vintage
  5. floral
  6. feminine
  7. antique

Blogger Backgrounds and Blogger Templates - Dress up your blogspot blog and attract visitors

Looking to give your blog a shabby chic overhaul but aren't sure if you want a shabby chic background or template? Not sure what the difference is?

Blogger Backgrounds

Backgrounds give you a lot more control over your Blogspot blog than a template does. A background simply sits in, well, the background while your blog sits on top of it. The benefit to this is that you have full access to Blogger's template designer. This means you can easily change your blogs font, color scheme, and layout without knowing an ounce of code.

Blogger Templates

Templates have the blog layout, colors, and fonts written into the code. Some templates offer limited access to the Blogger template designer, whereas most offer no access to the designer at all. This means when shopping for a template, you need to find one that you like the over all look, while also liking the layout and font.

On this page I include links to fabulous shabby chic Blogger templates and backgrounds.

Blogger Background or Blogspot Template? - Which do you prefer?

Backgrounds are really neat if you're good with computers because they allow you to really customize and fine tune your site. You can change the font and layout easily if you use a background. If you're a bit more unsure about how to run a Blogspot site, then a template may be better for you. A template sets up your entire site's structure, layout, and look. After you install one of these stand alone themes you pretty much just plug in information to complete your blog.

Which do you prefer for your blog, a background or a template?

I have tried templates before and I wasn't that happy with them, I reinstalled my Blogger template and now would only use back grounds it is just as effective and you really do have more control

I've always looked for templates, but I've never thought about backgrounds before. I may have to consider this. I've been too picky about picking a new one since my last template broke. I was sick of it too.

This lens ROCKS! I love that you show all the different examples. That must have taken forever to put together. And Shabby Chic is my fave. I had no idea there were all these backgrounds out there. Setting up a new blog right now! Blessed!

I love Shabby Chic everything, but I go with the backgrounds, I have tried templates before and found that I had to many problems with them so now I just use backgrounds, for one of my blogs I use a crinkle paper and for the other one I wanted to give a shabby come decoupage look so it has a newspaper background. This is a really great resource, I found it on June's My Squid Angels Wings post.

These templates are great! I have been looking for something for my Blogger blog. Most of the time, I build my own, but I am not artsy enough to make up some of these great templates.

Beautiful templates! I use DIY themes (Thesis) for Wordpress, which is great for SEO, but doesn't have a whole lot in terms of aesthetics ready to use unless you know lots of CSS, which I don't. Thanks for this resource! If the favorite button were still enabled, I'd add this to my favorites.

Great work - I've been thinking about starting up a blog to compliment my MyWDW lens series, but haven't quite figured out what I want to focus on especially. These might lead me in the right direction to finding a template once I start, though. :)
