The Accordion--One Man Band

The Accordion is sometimes considered a one-man-band as it needs no accompanying instrument. The performer normally plays the melody on buttons or keys on the right-hand manual, and accompaniment, consisting of bass and pre-set chord buttons, on the left-hand manual.

Accordion often played as a one man band or duet and it is the instrument of choice often for a street festival or a community celebration in America as well in Europe.

The old hertiage music styles such as Celtic music of the Irish and Scottish to Flemenco music by the Gypsie people of Spain and Baltic are popular music of the common people. Sure, these days one can sign up for a classical "Accordion" music training that some American Universities offfer. But Accordion is really a instrument of those who learn on their own or though informal ways of learning music of their choice.

Accordion performances can be just about anything that people find entertaining. Performers may do acrobatics, animal tricks, , caricatures, clowning, comedy, dance, singing, fortune-telling, juggling, magic, mimes and music bands.

Accorrdions are popular in churches and places of worship, often as a part of folk music and dance for social events, and also for spiritual music.
