Angry Birds on Xperia ST15i

This ubiquitous game is hard to ignore nowadays. It's hard to imagine Android veteran who haven't at least given this little game a try since you can get on the Android Market at no cost. Wildly popular, overachieving game by game developer Rovio catapulted itself as one of the must have apps that many just couldn't get enough of.

It also spawns a series of "Angry Birds Seasons" standalone games and a Rio movie tie-in game. Basically, these are all the same tried and tested simple yet addicting gameplay. Check them out via the links below.

Update: Angry Birds Space

If you think the Rovio standout seems getting a little stale with Seasons themed releases, then here comes their latest and greatest- Angry Birds Space. To spice things up, the game basics now includes gravity element to play around with. There is also slight and welcome modification of the birds abilities. I've played a few levels and I'd say it runs great on the Mini with no hiccups. However, the small screen can get annoying as you need to pinch zoom in and out constantly to get a better perspective.

Android users getting a treat as you can download this game on Google Play (formerly known as Android Market) for free.

Cut the Rope

Heads up puzzle game junkie! Cut the Rope is a brilliant physics/puzzle game that will definitely put a toll on your Xperia Mini's battery because this game is hard to put down once you get started playing. With wickedly clever levels to figure out and not to mention the adorable candy-monster Om Nom charms its way as a definite must-have companion for your attractive little phone.

The gameplay feature simple yet challenging puzzle wherein a hanging candy must reach the mouth of Om Nom by strategically cutting the rope in which the candy is attached to. To make things a little complicated, gameplay elements are present like bubbles, pesky spider, obstacles and some law of gravity to deal with. Also, not to forget this game has some challenging levels but you'll be compelled to complete each one of them.

Doodle Jump

If you find your fingers are a little hefty for the 3 inch screen, then accelerometer game like Doodle Jump will provide you a quick burst of fun without your fingers blocking the screen. All you need is to guide the "Doodler" higher by tilting the phone left or right in order to jump to the next platform. There are many nice touches here like leaping on ledge with spring or rocket enables you to cover longer distances. Furthermore, besting your own or other people's score will keep you coming back for more.

Doodle Jump is a runaway hit from creator Lima Sky

NinJump

Ninjump is simple, unassuming game that may surprise you how addicting it is, really. We all know that ninjas are synonymous to cool and this game will make you utter the word 'awesome' everytime your ninja transform into bladed angel or a shrieking fox while scaling higher distances. The object of the game is scale the infinite wall as high as you can whilst avoiding or slashing obstacles along your way. This is an on-rail game that doesn't involve complex maneuvering and in fact, you will just use your single digit in order to jump from left to right. This is such a perfect game for a smaller screen Xperia Mini since your finger won't obscure the view of the game.

Get this Ninjump game available now at the Android Market. Did I mention that you don't get charge for this app. So do your self a favor and install this game now.

SpeedX

If you are looking for 3D racing game for Xperia Mini, then SpeedX is an awesome fast racer that will definitely satisfy adrenaline junkies' need for speed . In SpeedX will you be racing at high speed inside and outside the tube trying to avoid obstacles and getting power ups along the way. The object of the game is go as far as you can without crashing, which is easier said than done.

Temple Run Arrives on Android OS

At last, the wait is over. The cashual gaming gods has heeded the call of Android fanatics. Temple Run is now available for Android and the good news is that it is compatible with Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini ST15i.

You can get Temple Run here.

Caveats of Playing Game on SE Mini

Android fragmentation rearing it's ugly head, in this case some games and apps will not work due to screen resolution incompatibility. Case in point, A casual game that I thoroughly enjoyed on the IOS is Megajump. Looking forward to try this on my Xperia mini since it is free but unable to install it because the unit is not supported. But dont be dissuaded to use this a phone for casual gaming since those are just a small number compared to a good library of working games for this phone.

Update: Megajump can now be installed on this handset. Although there are issue that needs to be ironed out (like not running on full screen), this awesome cashual game is very playable regardless.

Popcap Games for Xperia Mini

Popcap games has made a partnership with Sony Ericsson making the Mini and the Mini Pro to come pre-loaded with classic goodies such as Plants vs Zombies, Peggle and Chuzzle. Unfortunately, Chuzzle is the only full game while PVZ and Peggle are for trial version only.

Is Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini the Right Phone for You?

Read Reviews Online

The Xperia Mini is a tiny handset by today's standards but it packs a wallop when it comes to array of features. It bucks the trend in smartphones getting bigger and a far cry from the usual phones with huge screen real estate. Due to it's minuscule size, the Mini will not be for everyone but if you are one of those who don't want a huge slab casting shadow on your face, then this might be the right one for you. It's true that you can't play too many games due to the low screen resolution. However, plenty of them have been hacked to work on low resolution handsets. Just google for "QVGA HVGA games". Even got GTA3 working on a handset with slower CPU (albeit with no sound).
