Ten Online Sources For Vintage And Rare Electric Guitars

Updated on November 29, 2015

Ten Top Places To Buy A Rare or Vintage Guitar Online

Vintage and rare electric guitars are in the spotlight and are becoming highly collectible. When some of the top names, especially if they have a history, go up for sale they can fetch into the tens of thousand of dollars. Fortunately there are still enough of the lesser known and massed produced vintage guitars in the market place that you should be able to find a playable option for a fraction of that.

Often considered auditory and visual works of art, a hand crafted vintage guitar can seem to have a voice, and a life all it's own. That may be the reason, beyond eccentricity, that stimulates so many artists to actually name their guitars.

I've owned a pair of acoustic guitars for the past thirty years and even though they're quite ordinary I like to tune them up and run through some chords now and again. Even though my ability to play a guitar is, well, virtually non-existent, I still get a kick out of it.

That said I do like collecting many things and hope to add a vintage guitar or two to my collection of "stuff". I'm especially fond of vintage acoustic guitars, but while researching the different online resources I've come to appreciate how cool the early vintage electric guitars are. (also known as "axes" for those who didn't take electric guitar 101).

With a little patience you can still find some great deals for vintage guitars online. There are hundreds of little shops around the country that specialize in vintage guitars and other stringed instruments. This is a list of stores that offer their collectibles through online methods. I won't pretend this is a tell all, but I've added ten links that should keep you very interested and with any luck at all you'll find at least one guitar you'd love to own that fits within your budget.
