Great gamer headsets for pc

Updated on January 18, 2013

Find a gaming headset that suits you

One of the most important things for a competitive gamer such as myself is a great headset. And it can be a real pain to find one that suits you. Here are a couple of suggestions of popular gaming headsets that might help you pick one that is going to be great for you.

When picking a headset, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

Are you looking for a high or low budget headset?

Do you want a headset that looks cool and that show others what your favorite game is?

Is there specific needs you have in terms of comfort? I wear glasses most of the time when gaming and as such I need a gaming headset that comfortably fit without inducing headache from the glasses pressing on my temples.

It can be really hard to find a headset with good sounds, a decent microphone, that doesn't cost a ton of money and that has a comfortable fit, but it can be done.

Read on and you will see that there are good PC headsets with microphones available for almost any budget.

SteelSeries Siberia V2 Full-Size Gaming Headset

I have a special place in my heart for any SteelSeries product. The brand is always really well designed from good looking sleek headphones to great gaming mice. The SteelSeries Siberia V2 seems decided on not breaking this trend. The retractable microphone design known from other SteelSeries Headphones helps prevent the "woops I just accidentally broke my microphone syndrome". One of my favorite things about this headset (and please bear with me as it might be silly to most) is that it is one of the only really good gamer headsets that is available in pink. (Yes I can be a very girly girl sometimes, but that doesn't mean I don't want a quality headset for my pro-gaming sessions!)

Creative Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Wireless Headset

The Wireless WoW headset has received a lot of beatings for not being sturdy enough, but that is really the main complaint about the headset. Apart from that it provides a great sound experience, the microphone is decent and the price is in an affordable bracket. I am currently using this gaming headset myself and to be honest with you, I have not had a problem with anything breaking on it. My headset is now about 2 years old and it has never caused me any trouble. I think it is important to remember that Headsets are meant to stay on your head, not being thrown around whenever you get ganked in the battleground. The range of the wireless USB is quite good, but don't expect the signal to be able to go through walls and such. (No ventriollo chat on the toilet, which is probably a good thing.) My favorite thing about the Creative Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headset is however how comfortable they are. I wear glasses and I have had headache inducingly tight headsets in the past. These ones however never bothers me. The earcups can be tilted from side to side to relieve the stress placed on the glasses making it possible to sit through long gaming sessions without ever being bothered by your headset. I have had a lot of fun with the LED lenses and the voice transformer program, but in the end that is just gimmicks. If you want a nice wireless gaming headset I can only recommend this one. If you are a World of Warcraft player, well.. then it shouldn't even be up for discussion. (note you can buy both a USB version and the Wireless version. I recommend the latter, but be sure to pick the correct one when purchasing to avoid disappointment.)

SteelSeries Diablo III Gaming Headset

This is another SteelSeries headset, but I felt the need to include the Diablo Headset as well as it is probably one of the coolest Headsets on the market. The design is awesome whether you are a D3 fan or not and on top of that it is a quality piece of gaming equipment. The Earcuffs provide great noise cancellation and the microphone is good. This headset is designed to be lightweight and as far as gaming headsets comes, it is. Blizzard fan or not, it is worth checking these out if you are in the market for a new gaming headset.
