There Is Crowd in the Cloud

Updated on August 31, 2016

There is crowd in the cloud. In the days of cloud commuting, the amount of free space offered by different web services is increasing by the day. If you run out of space, then you can always another account for free space with another cloud offering web service. So in a way, you don’t have to pay for free storage space in cloud.

The quality of the services is high, even for a free account. But if you opt for a paid service, of course you get some extra advantages. But I choose to go the freeway, still manage to a little over 30 GB of free space in different cloud web services.

Here are some of the best locations where you can ample free space up in a cloud.

Free space 5 GB

I have been exploring free web space for a long time, even before the concept of cloud commuting started. When I first signed up for, it amazed me a lot for it simple interface and the amount of space it offered for free – 5 GB. It has nice layout and easy integration with mobile devices (I use android). You can collaborate files with friends and colleagues easily.

Now after buying my Sony smart phone, I got 50 GB free space for lifetime. I am happier now.

Free space 5 GB

If you have a Gmail account, then you will get 5 GB of virtual space – without you even knowing it. I have using Google documents for quite some time, and saving the files in there. One fine morning, I found all my Google documents moved to Google Drive, with 5 GB free space offering.

Now I not only use the Google documents, but I also use the drive store some pictures and documents for online work.

Microsoft’s SkyDrive

Free space 7 GB

Not to be left behind Google’s clout, Microsoft not only revamped its email, but it also started offering the free virtual space for files and photos storage. It is offering 7 GB of free space. But I am not really very comfortable using this one cloud service. The interface is not as attractive as the two discussed above. However, if you really like some extra space, you can get into this cloud and get an awesome 7 GB.

Free space 2 GB (can get a maximum of 16 GB)

It is much similar to any other web services we discussed above. Sign up dropbox to get 2 GB of free space. But you increase the amount of free space. They have referral program where in you will get 500 MB free space for every friend who sign up under your referral. You can get a maximum of 16 GB of space.

Manage the cloud

Now that you got over 30 GB of free space from just 4 web service providers, how do you manage all of them in one place. Here is another web service which will help you manage all the free space.

It isn’t difficult with Otixo. Otixo will integrate all these web services, plus several others into one nice web location for you to manage.

Read my hubpage on All in All Apps to manage different web services. I have detailed a few web apps (mobile apps as well) to manage several of your other web services in one place.
