Top 10 Must Have Electronic Gadgets

Updated on December 31, 2010

Top 10 electronic gadgets of 2010

The world today has been turned into a world of electronic gadgets. There are a thousand of invented electronic gadgets to this day, and more and more are being invented to meet the demands of the market. I would like to share with you my top 10 list of what I believe are the most influential and interesting electronic gadgets available in the Consumer Electronics market today.

Apple iPod touch 32 GB (4th Generation)

The new iPod touch is better than ever. It is probably the best upgrade from a previous generation yet! Things that were added to the new iPod touch are: a gyroscope, 2 cameras (1 VGA, 1 0.7mp), LED backlit retina display, an actual speaker grill, and a built in mic. Some new features added include the ability to: take pictures, record HD 720p video, FaceTime chat, playback HD movies, use apps that require the gyroscope, and apps that have retina display support. With all the new features and upgrades, it's hard not to upgrade. While the back camera is fairly low res, it actually takes really good pictures if you are in a well lit environment. The HD video recording is very good too. It is better than cameras like flip camcorders and Sony handycams.

The battery life is much longer than it used to be, so it won't die as often and you can use it more without worries. The design has not changed very much, but the back if flatter than previously, it's thinner, the volume buttons are separated, and the power button is on the right rather than the left. I really wish the back wasn't chrome steel, and that it was made of aluminum like the iPad. Space is really good, with 64gb its hard to fill it up all the way. Overall, this iPod is THE best iPod, and a very good upgrade for any owner of an old iPod touch and a great buy for potential iPod owners.

Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device

Amazon's newest Kindle is the best ebook-reading device on the market. It's better than the Apple iPad, the Barnes & Noble Nook, the various Sony readers, and certainly better than any smartphone. It's still black-and-white, but really, that's for the best. The screen almost glows outdoors. In comparison to the iPad, which turns into a pretty but useless mirror in sunlight, the Kindle only gets more readable.

With the Text-to-Speech feature, Kindle can read English newspapers, magazines, blogs, and books out loud to you, unless the book's rights holder made the feature unavailable. You can switch back and forth between reading and listening, and your spot is automatically saved. Pages automatically turn while the content is being read, so you can listen hands-free.

Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go. With Amazon's Whispernet service, you can send your documents directly to your Kindle and read them anytime, anywhere. Now you can add notes and highlights, use the dictionary look-up, and read password-protected PDFs.

Kindle's keyboard makes it easy to search within a book, across your library, in the Kindle Store, or even the Web. To use the Search feature, simply type in a word or phrase you're looking for, and Kindle finds every instance in your book or across your Kindle library.

Not the perfect "do-it-all" device, but very close to being the perfect e-reading device!

Apple iPod nano 16 GB Graphite

Redesigned for music and Multi-Touch, iPod nano is smaller and lighter than ever. Touch screen is a new thing on this kind of perticular small ipod, the way the program been designed is truly helpful and it's easy to play with it, because it's been designed in a simple way.

The nano also allows you to conveniently listen to music more so than any other version. It has two volume buttons so that you don't have to fumble with spinning the click wheel back and fourth until you get just the right volume. There's also the sleep/wake button. You can press it to put it in sleep mode while it still plays music. This allows you to listen to music without worrying about accidentally hitting a button while you do other things in your life. It also has a cool shuffle feature where you just shake the ipod and it will go to a different song.

Garmin 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

The 4.3-inch backlit widescreen touchscreen gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea.

The text-to-speech feature of the nüvi 260W means that device automatically calls out street names (saying "turn right on Main Street" instead of "turn right in 200 feet."). This feature lets drivers keep their eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways.

The nüvi 260W comes preloaded with City Navigator NT North America--road coverage for the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico and nearly 6 million points of interest. City Navigator North America NT gives you everything you need to travel North America. Powered by NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality digital map data, City Navigator brings you the most detailed street maps available so you can navigate with exact, turn-by-turn directions to any address or intersection.

Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

Garmin GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor

The Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS System combines form and function. This combination running partner and personal trainer is designed for athletes of all levels. It features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, new courses feature, and robust ANT wireless heart rate monitor for optimal performance. The heart device monitors your heart rate, speed, distance, pace and calories burned so you can train smarter, more effectively. These taskmasters will continually push you to do your personal best.

The super-sensitive GPS tracks your every move, even working on tree-covered trails and near tall buildings. Upload of workout data to the PC software (Training Center) is transparent. The PC software is very good for presenting time/distance/pace/heartrate/calorie data. You can recharge the unit through the USB port on your computer, although it's slower than using the dedicated recharger.

Lorex LW2003 LIVE 'snap' Video Baby Monitor

A completely portable video baby monitor solution with a slim and compact design and built-in 'snapshot' recording. The pocket-sized video monitor with 2.4-inch super-bright LCD screen and camera both feature built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries for true portability around your home.

Take the system with you when you visit relatives, friends, or go on vacation. Capture those unforgettable moments instantly with touch-button snapshot recording to a built-in microSD card recorder. Snap and save up to 4000 pictures on the included microSD card.

"Talk with Baby" feature lets you talk to and soothe your baby when you are not in the same room. See your baby at all times with Automatic Night Vision. The 100% digital technology ensures the signal is secure, interference-free and has a wireless range of up to 450 feet. The LIVE snap grows with your family because you can add cameras to view up to 4 rooms at the same time.

Sony ICD-PX820 Digital Voice Recorder

The recorder records in MP-3 and the software allows it to be converted to a number of other formats. Basic use is very easy. The buttons and interface are easy to use and understand. I was comfortable using the recorder after I played around with it for about 5 minutes. It took another few minutes to get familiar with the menu navigation.

Sound quality was reasonably good from the built-in speaker. Playback on my laptop was crystal clear. Headphones sound great too. Softer voices came in clearly. 90 Minutes at HQ created a 80mb mp3 file. It works exactly like a flash-drive and I have had absolutely no problems loading the Sony editing software into my Windows 7-64 bit computer.

Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 with 1080p Video

High definition video up to 1080p, a wide-angle lens and autofocus for picture quality that's simply amazing. Video chat, blog, stream and upload to Facebook in just one click. The term 'webcam' doesn't quite do it justice. Logitech Fluid Crystal Technology gives you smooth, fluid video. Crystal clear images. Rich colors.

Another awesome fun feature is the Logitech Video Effects. You can use Avatars that will follow your movements and mimic your speech as you chat with your friends. Add face accessories and masks to snapshots or video chat. Distort you image by adding visual video affects like stretching your face, big buggy eyes or distorting the color. There are tons of features to choose from and you can even download additional avatars and accessories direct from Logitech free of charge.

The webcam even offers a motion sensor feature that you can set up to record with a date and time stamp when there is any movement in front of the camera. Overall great webcam.

Wii with Wii Sports Resort

Since its release in 2006, Nintendo's Wii gaming console has ignited an international revolution of interactive gaming, entertainment and fun among people of all ages. That revolution continues with the Wii Wii Sports Resort bundle - white. Consisting of a Wii console in the traditional white color, white versions of the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Wii MotionPlus accessory, a copy of Wii Sports Resort and the original Wii Sports game, it is a whole new way to start or expand a Wii party in your home.

One of the most popular Wii party games of all time, Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.

Fujifilm FinePix S1800 12.2 MP Digital Camera

Sporting a 12-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch CCD, a powerful Fujinon 18x wide-angle optical zoom (28mm-504mm equivalent) and an extra large 3.0-inch high-contrast LCD and electronic viewfinder, the FinePix S1800 is perfect for advanced photographers who want an affordable, step-up digital camera that will still fit in the palm of their hand.

The quality of the pictures for the price is fantastic. It's easy on the batteries, and easy to use in that when you turn the wheel to change the setting the display shows which setting you're on at each turn. This camera is loaded with other features like manual settings that you will not find unless you go to the higher priced cameras. It is very easy to use, even without reading the manual. The controls are well positioned, and the more I use it, the more I find out that it will do.

If you are one of those digital camera users who want some of the high end features of an SLR without the big price tag this might be right for you.
