Updated on February 20, 2014

2013 - 2014 List of the Best New Electronic and Gadget Gifts

If you're a geek like I am, then your constantly looking for the latest in technology and gadgets. In this post I'll highlight ten of my favorite new gadgets in 2013 - 2014 and give you the top rated new releases in each category. Before you go leave a comment with what gadget you're looking to get for Christmas this year.

2013 - 2014 - Year of the Tablet

I've used tablets in the past to an extent, but there are a few releases this year that made me turn my head. One is the new Asus Infinity tablet which has a super powerful quad-core processor. I purchased this tablet a couple of months ago and can't believe just how far this tablet, as well as many others, have come in 2012. Other notable Tablets released in 2012 include Amazon's Kinde Fire HD series, the New iPad, Samsung Galaxy Note, Google Nexus 7, and the new Sony Xperia.

Laptops and Desktop Computers Get an Upgrade:

Every time Intel and AMD release new processors we get great new laptops from all manufacturers. Intel's new Ivy Bridge processor is faster and has much better integrated graphics than we've seen from Intel before. Late in 2012 AMD updated its Trinity series APU processors. While a bit slower than the Intel processors, they provide even better integrated graphics.

#1 Sony Xperia 16 GB 9.4-Inch Tablet S SGPT121US/S

Here's a great new tablet from Sony that is starting to make waves. While it's an uphill climb vs. the likes of the new iPad, Google Nexus 7, and the new Asus Infinity tablet, it's unmistakably smooth.

Apple iPad 2 or a New Tablet?

The initial iPad from Apple was a huge hit; everyone was talking about it and how they wanted to buy it but it just cost so much. However, the iPad 2 was an even bigger hit - as people began to realize its capabilities, they began to decide that maybe the investment was worth it in spite of the price. The Apple iPad 2 is an extremely thin tablet that users can connect to the internet with, purchase apps, sync their computer documents to, and much, much more. Surprisingly enough, the battery of the Apple iPad 2 was designed to last an astounding 10 hours, which is more than enough for a full day of work.

Because of this and its many features, the Apple iPad 2 is often replacing laptops in the workplace and school environment, as they are so much more portable and easy to use. With their touch screens, iPad 2 users can use FaceTime to talk to their friends face to face in full high definition resolution. And there are two cameras on the Apple iPad 2, one of the front and one on the back, so that it's easy to take pictures from any angle you could want. Additionally, the chip that acts as processor in the Apple iPad 2 is a dual core A5 chip, which is extremely powerful and allows the device to perform everything that it does at such a rapid pace. And because its dual, the iPad 2 can even multitask without its efficiency being interrupted. The Apple iPad 2 also has amazing graphics, an improvement from the original model. There is also now a smart cover available for this gadget, one that can automatically turn off the Apple iPad 2 when it is covered, and automatically turn on the device when it is uncovered. This device can also roll into a great stand for the iPad 2, making it easier to use and watch digital media with.
