Uninstall Norton Completely. How to Remove Norton Antivirus 2012 From Your PC.

Updated on November 27, 2012

How to Uninstall Norton AntiVirus When Windows Add or Remove Programs Can't.

Are you having problems uninstalling Norton AntiVirus from your computer?

The main problem with Norton is that it has files and extensions that embed themselves in just about every corner of the hard disk on your computer, which makes them nearly impossible to be totally removed with the standard Windows "Add/Remove Programs".

Below you will find tools, ideas and ways for the quickest and most effective way to uninstall Norton completely from any computer.

Fully Remove Norton AntiVirus from Your PC.

Have you tried to uninstall Norton from the Windows Add/Remove Programs, and it STILL DOESN'T WORK ?

If you have computer with a Windows XP , here's what you need to do first...(see image below)

...and if you have computer with a Windows Vista or Windows 7 here's what you need to do first...(see image below)

Most probably you have tried to uninstall your old version of Norton Antivirus or the new and the latest version of Norton Antivirus 2001 version, but no matter what you did it seems to stay there...

How annoying is this? So what do you do to get rid of these frustrating problems?.

Here you will find a link directly to Symantec Support

If you have looked around at all the Forums for ways to remove Norton from your PC, you would have come across many comments like "I had to Format my entire hard drive which meant that I had to wipe out all the programs, files and documents that was installed on my computer for the past 3 years". This is an example of somebody who had to format hard disk so he can finally get rid of Norton Antivirus.

To make matters even worse, then he would have to re-install every single program from scratch. So you can imagine how annoying and frustrating that is to go through something like that.

One would think with a reputable company such as Symantec, the very least they would make the Norton uninstall job a very simple and smooth process for normal people who don't really know much about computers.

Norton Uninstall Problem - How to Uninstall the (14 days Trial Version) !

Another common and a major problem with just about every new computer that is sold, is that it comes packaged with all sorts of software. They all have more or less a (14 days Trial).Norton Antivirus seems to be packaged with the majority of the computer brands for sale on the market today.

So if you decide not to take up the offer to renew after the (14 days Trial) has expired, then uninstalling Norton becomes a major battle.

As Norton Antivirus files are still embedded inside the computer no matter how many times you try using the "Add/Remove" method to uninstall the Norton Antivirus Trial Version.

Many people on the forums mentioned how they have tried several times to contact Symantec and use their Support site after spending countless hours back and forth to get no solution to their simple problem.

The conspiracy theorist out there on the forums believe that Symantec purposely make it difficult to remove or uninstall for anybody who happens to have a Trial version of Norton AntiVirus software, so in a way it forces you to upgrade and Pay for the FULL VERSION after the trial version runs out! (It's up to you to Believe it or NOT). I personally don't think that's the case and they are out there to get you, but I could be wrong!

Uninstall Norton Corporate Edition Without a Password.

Another problem with uninstalling Norton is if you happen to have a "Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition".

Symantec the company that markets Norton AntiVirus has a "Corporate Edition" on the market which obviously sells for a lot more than the Basic Version that you and I buy as it can be used by multiple employees in the Corporations' offices.

The problem starts if you buy a 2nd hand computer at auction or from eBay that has Norton AntiVirus Corporate installed on its hard drive or if an employee who used to work at the company had suddenly left work where he or she simply forgot to reset the password...

The only solution then was to format the hard drive and lose everything on the computer!

Now the solution is right here at your finger tips, all you have to is Download Perfect Uninstaller. It will forcibly remove any Norton Corporate Edition without Password COMPLETELY! Once that's all done and any remnant of Norton has been totally removed, you can get on with adding your favourite AntiVirus Software...

Perfect Uninstaller "How To Guide".

The Easy Way To Uninstall Norton AntiVirus.

After you CLICK on any of the blue links on this page, a few seconds later you will see an alert box like the one in the figure below.

Select "Run or Save" to download and install "Perfect Uninstaller".

If the download does not begin within 5 seconds, simply refresh the page.

If you prefer you may save the Perfect Uninstaller setup file (PerfectUninstaller_Setup.exe) to your computer and install the software later by clicking on the 'Save' button. To install the software just double click the Perfect Uninstaller_Setup.exe file and follow instructions.

Perfect Uninstaller will properly and completely remove Norton from your PC. It will remove ALL the traces of it left behind in your registry which the standard Windows "Add/Remove Programs" simply can't do.

Uninstalling Norton Manually.

Tampering With Your Computer Could Be Very Costly...

Here's what else I found...

After looking through ALL of the forums and relevant websites on how to uninstall Norton AntiVirus (believe me it is a nightmare out there with so many people having the same problem of removing Norton AntiVirus from their computers).

Some people who were trying to manually fiddle with the registry deleting individual files (DLL, individual registry keys, and other extensions) trying to remove them completely, ended up with many other problems that never had before.

REMEMBER: If you by some chance delete the wrong registry files or registry key, you can easily create other problems that could cause your PC not to run properly or even be totally disabled.

Try Perfect Uninstaller Now so you could Uninstall Norton Completely

Brand new Gateway sx2110-ew358. I ran the included Norton 360 until 1 day to expire. I downloaded Avira Free. I used the Windows 8 uninstall option. It asked me if I wanted to totally uninstall Norton. I checked yes. After a few... BSOD. Then only failed "repairing your system". System restore "did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed." I am still beating on the "Norton Fraud Virus". Conspiracy? Reality!!! Join together to get these SOB's! I propose as a start.. a "Norton Sucks" website to gather forces and confirm stories.

Hey guys, does anyone know if you can uninstall and remove the Norton Antivirus on a device that uses remote management? I find it annoying when the popup says I need to check my computer again. I set it to only come back once every month, but I would really like to get it off for good. Thanks!

There are many technologies that have been included in Norton AntiVirus 2012 and the key ones are antivirus, anti-spyware, bot protection, Norton plus updates, anti-rootkit, Network Mapping and Monitoring, Norton Reputation Service and SONAR3 behaviour protection.

And it ensures it protects these operating systems from all kinds of malware threats including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, keyloggers, adware, pop-ups and much more.

I am with the conspiracy theorists. My theory is when you try to uninstall Norton you get viruses, that happened to my last computer. Now my new pc is locating trojans in the Norton program files probably because I won't purchase the most expensive anti-virus software on earth. Norton you royally suck. Thank you all for listening.

      @anonymous: Hi Doug,

Thanks for your comment and feedback. It makes you think twice when a company like Microsoft advises computer users to uninstall and remove Norton Antivirus from their computer if they ever have backup issues. All one needs to do is Google "uninstall Norton" and see how many people are searching and looking for a way to remove Norton from their PC.

Sadly, it's a trick being used by many other Antivirus companies now, so good luck with your next purchase and let us know how you go.

Cheers and all the best to you,

      John

I bought a band new Compaq CQ61 and it has this unpleasant Norton Anti virus. Yes it nags begging me to buy it. Now I hear it is not easy to remove. The laptop is going back to the store . This is bait and hook and I am writing my attorney general to see if this can be prosecuted. It is the probable cause of backup failures even Microsoft says to remove it if you have backup issues.
