Video Editing Websites and Software

Save money and make great personal videos by skipping high-cost, high-end software for one of these easy-to-use video editors like WeVideo or Animoto. Maybe you're looking to create a YouTube video or maybe you just want to edit home video to share with loved ones. You can actually save money and skip the hassle of learning complicated software by using one of these capable video-editing solutions.

WeVideo Video

WeVideo makes video creation accessible to everyone, using web based technologies to make it easier, faster and convenient. With web based editing, WeVideo makes make social video editing easy - allowing people to come together online to collaborate on a video project.

My favorite feature and the reason I recommend WeVideo so highly is that it has three levels of interface so you can grow as your video editing experience grows. One version is suitable for novices that have never edited a video before and then you can move up to experts and old-hands alike. You can even switch between them at will, whenever you like. You can even capture videos and photos with your Android, iPhone or iPod and easily upload them into your WeVideo account.

With the latest release you can now publish to a page for sharing your video - no longer any requirement to use YouTube for publishing. You can also share video projects quite easily. You can just send a link to friends who will have access to the video whether they are on their smartphone, tablet or personal computer. The video can also be made public so that everybody has access to it - but you make the choice on the level of access.

@magnoliasouth: Well, while I might disagree with the statement that "most of the links are broken URLs" I was embarrassed to find that two more of the companies have gone under and I did have two incorrect links. Thanks to your comments, I have updated the links.

Sorry to hear that Windows Moviemaker won't work with your release of Windows. While I understand your frustration, I am old enough to remember the days when software and updates downloaded and installed and then failed to work. So, again while I understand your frustration, better to find out up front that your version of Windows won't support this application.

It is one of the limitations of these free products, at this price few companies will test the product under every operating system and version.

    • profile image

      magnoliasouth 5 years ago

Hmmm. Seems like the commenters haven't tried the links. Most of them are broken URLs. Too bad, I really need a basic editor. Even the Windows Moviemaker doesn't work and when I tried going to the official site, it denies giving it to me saying that since I have WinXPSP3, I already have it and it's unavailable for me to download. Jerks! I DO NOT have Windows Moviemaker. UGH! Oh and I do realize that the official site isn't your thing, but just thought I toss it in to illustrate my frustration. Anyway, I do appreciate the effort here in any case. They sound good, but too bad I can't get the ones I wanted.

So far I'm still using what came in my Flip, but it does have a few problems with clipping errors from time to time. I've considered trying Movie Maker, but haven't so far. Your video on how to do it might give me just the push I need to try it -- as soon as I have time. What ever program I use, I imagine it will still take a lot of time.
