What Would You Do Without A Computer?

Updated on September 18, 2014

My Laptop Isn't Working. Feels Like the End of the World.

We are so bound by technology that when the computer crashes it tips my whole world. Anxiety can ruin the whole day. I am trying to carve time into understanding what is the matter with it before I take it in. Because they always ask. "What were you doing when it quit?" Things like that.

We are good at finding solutions to our problems. That sounds better than what I just said to the cat.

Why do I even bother? Cause, I don't want to take it in if I don't have to, it is an hour drive, and if nothing else, I can describe to them better what isn't working right. Fear, again, the common denominator. What will I do without my laptop? It is not the end of the world.

Finish reading that book, write with pen and paper again. Call them, go online with the desktop, email them the problem.

They have people to help. It is their job. Yeah, the more you know the less it will cost, maybe. Find out, at least then, the worry will stop.

Success With Technology

We Are Ready to Just Speak the Words Instead of Writing Them.

Yeah, I've been blessed to have them, these marvelous Apple Mac computers of mine. They have taken me into an interesting life. I don't know if I had to give them up completely if I could. I think I would just to fulfill the dream of having something small enough to take with us and keep track of stuff, plus reward us for our creativity is something I ill never let go of.

Just jealous when we are not caught up reviewing iphones, ipads, kindles, palm pilots, smart phones, smart writing pens. We want it all. We don't like being so far behind in all these new social gadgets.

Hey, we are on the web, thanks to the iMac. We have a Mac Book laptop and Mac Mini desktop. A printer, scanner, photo print machine. It is just hard to resist when they come up with new stuff. It makes us realize we want to do new things in easier ways.

And seriously, what would we do, how would we cope if it all just died, blew up, went away? We'd be lost, that's what.

It is not going to, this is our process, asking for the universe to meet the needs of loving our planet.

Keeping us in touch, loving one another. Computer waste is a big problem, ones that last a long time, cut down on that.

Would we have to go back to writing letters, calling on the telephone? Driving to visit one another, instead of socializing online. We see the computer as a tool to make all of that easier and in one small package that goes with us everywhere.

Just like the inventions of TV radio, airplane, and phone, thank goodness, we still have them with us today. We marvel still at those top A engineers that can invent such fine working components. Even our brother is deciding they are cool to look things up on and order from.

So, ready to give that totally outdated fear away?

Most definitely, thanks to the internet and our computers we have found our way. The deeper we spread our wings to fly, the help we have asked for is in our grasp. Once we were told to reach out and grab it. We were to shy to be that bold. We really didn't see how we could ever be writers or photographers or get any of our dreams off the ground before the computer days.

We cherish them and depend on them for more things every day. We feel successful with technology now.

Computers: MacBook - My Favorite of All.

This little aluminum guy wins out every time the sun shines. His strong little body and bright, colorful screen comes alive out in my front yard or in the neighborhood cafes that provide wifi service. I wouldn't get to talk about how he helps me create if it wasn't for his easy to learn ways that won my heart. Along came the Mac saying to me, You too can do this and be on a computer to your hearts content.

Reflections of Sunlight - It's a little awkward with my laptop, but it does take some nice photos.

Computers Even Take Pictures
Computers Even Take Pictures

Our computers have become like our vehicles, we depend on them to earn a living. So when my laptop wasn't working right, I started imagining the worst. Nothing major they could find.

It had just passed it's warranty, so I suppose it was telling me it was getting tired. So those wonderful techie gurus added some more memory, now it's working pretty fine. I got around to updating to wireless, so the computer and I could spend more of this lovely weather outside.

I still want an iphone really bad. I need a phone upgrade, but my old one hasn't died, so I really don't need one.

Guaranteed, if I spend much more time out in nature, away from home, it will be justified.

Patience is its own reward.

We will be happy that our laptop is back in our hands.

The people who travel, write, and take pictures for a living, are masters at downsizing. My goal is to be like them.

I am taking a crash course from some of the things they've written on the subject,

Our weekends in the mountains doing research won't be so cumbersome. But ya gotta start somewhere. We have many resources at our disposal. We are so grateful for the people who know how to keep us fed with the technology we crave.

iPad Now or Never - Yet there is something still a voice saying wait.

No, the craving must be fed, it is perfect timing, for traveling, for taking classes, for learning, truly learning to use this beautiful portable creative machines.

Apple iPad Mini MF432LL/A (16GB, Wi-Fi, Space Gray )

My photography sister really loves the camera on this one. Plus the one hand holding and fitting into our bags to carry with us, wins this iPad Mini.

So What Do You Vote For? - Kindle, IPad, Both?

Do we really need smart phones too? What function does each serve best? Kindle my new library and ipad for travel and what do you want to add?

Without My Computer

I Would Cry

I Would Miss My Music

I'd Get More Flowers Planted Outside

I'd Spend More Time On A Mountain

Enjoy Hot Sundae's at the Soda Fountain

I Would Take Longer Trips On A Train

My Dog and I Would Walk, Even in The Rain

It is nice to know, we can do both, with the computers of today.

Love of Photography, Yes, MacBook has a Camera!

Just wanted you to know, I love to show off my photos

Technology helps me grow, I have fun writing mottos.

So it is time to take the credit, these are all shot by me!

Learning to Use Apple Computers - Mission Control with the New Lion and Beyond to a future galaxy.

Upgrading our computers has become the norm. Mac's are no exception. I haven't even learned all the wonderful things I can do with Snow Leopard and now Lion is wanting me to indulge. Something that can only be put off for so long.

I know my iphoto would work better with an upgrade. I love creating with my photography.

I can spend days getting lost in all the wonderful pages I can create. Now to find out I can have multiple desktops with the Lion. Oh my, would that help with my organization, or just confuse me even more?

It might possibly cut down on the piles of paperwork around my desk. Overall, I learned quite a bit from this video.

My head is spinning with the new possibilities. So, to lose my computer for a couple of days, I might get some more wonderful sun rays.

Computers on Phones - Tablets to Read

Our world is on fire with all these wonderful hand held devices.

If you absolutely had to live without one, which would you choose?

Great lens! I love my iPad, but I just made a new rule for myself to only check phone/iPad when my little one is either napping or in bed at night. This way I don't miss anything with him :)

I have a really excellent desktop machine because I work online. I don't really care about "gadgets and widgets" though-- I just need reliability, speed, LOTS of storage and a fast Internet connection. My laptop is ancient and only needs to be capable of checking email and functioning as a basic word processor when I'm on the road. I don't own a tablet, reader, smartphone or anything else like that...

Gee if the computer worked I could leave a comment. Oh but it is even thought it is in several pieces held together by duct tape. Trust me more than once I have had to repair my computer to get it working again. In the good news folks around me bring their systems over to have me look at them. This helps me to stay current with computers and the software that is out there. On one side system crash is bad on the other side of the coin for me a system crash is good.

Sometimes my internet crashes right in the middle of work and that drives me crazy!

Once it quit on me for two whole days and I had no other choice but to work at Dunkin Donuts! Lol

    It was fun, though...

When I am not working on my laptop, I'm definitely on my Kindle! Either on Facebook, Twitter or reading.... :)

My computers never seem to be fast enough as I always want to process photos, along with a slow internet connection, but I'm happy with my lot. It's just so amazing what computers can do compared with a chalk board 50 years ago!

I keep running my old dell laptop even though I had to use duct tape on it 'cause the hinge broke. I try my hardest to fix them myself, I even replaced the hard drive (it's not hard). I bought a new desktop last Christmas, that's where I do most of my work.

I am perfectly happy with what I have. Years ago, I learned one lesson, in my career as an IT professional and that is that you will never keep up with the "bleeding" edge of technology, and truthfully, you probably shouldn't try. That edge is where you will find 99% of all the problems, as most of it is released to the unsuspecting public as the final "beta" test. If you can do what you want with what you have, then stick with it until you can't. Nice lens!

It's funny how attached we get to our technology, isn't it? We've come a long way since I was young and we just had a corded telephone. Now we've got smart phones, tablets, wireless printers, and digital everything. It's no wonder it's so hard for us to live without these things that have become an everyday essential to us. It's nice to just unplug sometimes. Very nice lens, squid blessed!
