Chandigarh also known as 'The City Beautiful' is a Union Territory in India and serves as the capital of Punjab & Haryana. It is the first planned city of India and is well-known internationally for its architecture & design. The city was planned and designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier.

The wide roads in Chandigarh are surrounded by trees and it has the third highest forest cover in India. The city is one of the cleanest cities in India and is known for its beautiful gardens and serene beauty. Here is a list of must-see places when you visit Chandigarh:

Sukhna Lake
Sukhna Lake

Sukhna Lake

Sukhna lake is an artificial lake near the Rock Garden at the foothills of Shivalik. It was created by damming the seasonal stream, Sukhna Choe coming down from the Shivalik Hills. This 3-km lake is Le Corbusier's greatest gift to the city. No motor boats are allowed in the lake to preserve the serene atmosphere. It is a popular spot among tourists and the natives alike. People can be seen coming here for long walks along the lake. It is also a venue for many festivities.

Rock Garden

Rock Garden is the pride of Chandigarh which is situated near the Sukhna lake. This man-made wonder was created by Sh. NekChand using waste materials. This internationally acclaimed garden has numerous sculptures made by using a variety of different discarded waste materials like frames, mudguards, forks, handle bars, metal wires, play marbles, porcelain, auto parts, broken bangles etc. NekChand ji worked secretly for years in this then secluded forest area before it was discovered.

Chandigarh looks lovely. I think I would probably be stuck in the Rose Garden. lol.... I mean 825 different types of roses! I can smell that beauty now. The International Doll Museum would also peak my interest. And I love going to the zoo, I would make a stop in there for sure. Great Hub!
