9 Islands to Visit in Southeast Asia

Updated on April 13, 2018

If you have never been to Southeast Asia, and like me, you like basking under the sun, then it's time to add Southeast Asia to your list and marvel in it's beauty.

Southeast Asia is a haven for beach bums. It's composed of 11 countries and each has a unique and diverse experience waiting for you. But in this post, I will focus on only nine of its thousands of picturesque islands, especially on its beaches. I know nine islands isn't going to give the region the justice it deserve. But from what I have seen or experienced, these are best islands.

1. Koh Rong & Koh Rong Samloen, Cambodia

Probably my personal favorite. There are two islands to choose from, you can either choose to go to both or just to one. Koh Rong caters to backpackers, mostly, while Koh Rong Samloem is more laid back.

2. Belitung, Indonesia

Aside from its beaches, Kaolin lake is also found in the island. The combination of white and blue colors just gives a gorgeous vibe.

3. Siargao, Philippines

A surfer's paradise! The island isn't very popular yet so if you want to avoid the crowd, it's the perfect time to visit Siargao.

4. Koh Tao & Koh Phangan, Thailand

Two islands connected by a beach. If that doesn't persuade you, I don't know what will. Ohh! A trip to Koh Phangan for its full moon parties. Don't miss it!

5. Boracay, Philippines

The white beach's sand is to die for.

6. Bali, Indonesia

Yes, Bali is overrated. But it is still a must to visit this island. I know Kuta isn't the best beach so I'm giving you a tip--go to Geger Beach instead.

7. Redang Island, Malaysia

White beaches, crystal clear waters, and turtles.

8. Palawan, Philippines

I know, it's my third time to mention the Philippines, but it has the best beaches! From Puerto Princesa, El Nido, and all the way to Coron, seriously. You have died and gone to heaven.

9. Phi Phi Island, Thailand

A trip to Phi Phi gets you the chance to visit the famous Maya Bay!
