3rd Day in Indonesia, Surabaya (Mt. Bromo to Ijen)
From 3rd Day in Indonesia, Surabaya (Mt. Bromo) -1, now we proceed our journey to Blawan....
Day 3 (Part 2)
NGADISARI →PROBOLINGO → BONDOWOSO → BLAWAN
At around 10:30am, after breakfast in the guesthouse; we left Yochi guest house to Catimor Homestay located at Blawan by an engaged minivan.
We moved towards Probolingo, the nearest access to Bondowoso. After hours of travelling in a minivan under a hot and humid weather, it was grateful that we enjoyed a fresh coconut drinks and bought some fruit (Rambutan and unknown fruit with skin like snake skin) in the town of Probolingo.
We took a short break in a small restaurant for lunch. Actually I did not enjoy the food much. What I need was some drinks that could ease feeling under hot weather. After this little break, we proceeded our van journey to Bondowoso.
The condition of the route from Probolingo to Bondowoso was fine. However when the minivan drove away from town, to the countryside; we had suffered from the extremely jolty ride for quite a long distance. But it was much better than what I had experienced during my trip to India. When we reached a bumpy path, I think the place was somewhere around Sempol; we met a lady from Germany. She got stuck because the van was punctured after the ride on the bad conditioned road. She joined our minivan to continue her way to Blawan. Actually, we were already very near to our destination Catimor Homestay.
We reached the homestay at about 4:30pm. The homestay is located within a coffee plantation and coffee processing plant at about 1500 m above sea level.
After checking- in the guesthouse, we made our move to Pemandian Air Panas Blawan Bondowoso. We crossed dormitories of the plantation workers. About few minute walks, we reached the public hot spring. It was a comfortable hot spring soak after a long and bumpy traveling from Probolingo. We also met 2 new friends from Hong Kong here. The two ladies are friendly and adorable.
After we took a bath at the guesthouse, while waiting for the dinner to get ready, this was our time to explore the coffee processing factory just located beside the homestay. The worker showed us the procedure of the process from the harvesting of the fruit until the final product, coffee powder. He showed us the most expensive coffee beans which mixed with some process with the cat excrement.
There is a swimming pool and a hot tub right in front of the rooms. Just beside the pool there is painted wall. The staff will fill up the tub with natural spring water every day. Another interesting thing is the site just in front of the reception, to allow us to make coffee freely. At that night we were able to chat with bapak Tommy, who is a guide of the journey to Ijen Crater.
