Updated on March 22, 2013

1. Umbrella

Never ever travel without an umbrella. Although some people might think that not bringing one would not necessarily affect your trip, it actually is very useful. Why is bringing an umbrella so important? Umbrellas can protect you from the heat of the sun or from rain. After all, you never know what's going to happen when you travel. It's always better to be prepared. Plus, umbrellas can be used as some type of protection! It really is made to keep you safe during your trip.

If you're worried about how heavy the umbrella is, you can just bring a folding umbrella! It will make it easier for you to carry it around. You can put it in your backpack or even your shoulder bag!

It is always best to be prepared. It is important to bring medicines with you in a trip so that you won't have to go through the trouble of finding them if ever you do get sick. You can just take them out of your bag. Some essential medicines you need to bring with you are : ibuprofen (like Advil), analgesic (like paracetamol) , antacid (like maalox), meclizine (like bonamine) , antihistamine (like allerta) and hycosine (like buscopan). If you have special medical needs, you have to bring medicines that cater to that to! For example, if you have asthma, you always have to bring your spray. You never know when you'll have an asthma attack.

3. Cash

Never ever travel without cash. Simply bringing a credit card is not enough when travelling. It is important to bring cash with you since not all stores cater to credit cards. If you're travelling internationally, always bring money of that currency with you. You never know when you will first spot a Money changer.

4. Snacks and Candies

Bringing snacks and candies is a must. They don't have to be a lot. A small amount will do. This is important since you will have those "I'm hungry but there's no restaurant in sight" moments. While there are still no food suppliers in sight, these will do. This also applies for situations where in you don't think that the food in the area fits what you want.

5. Camera

Always bring a camera with you! After all, what's a trip if you don't have something to document it with? Always take pictures! It's like a diary of your trip! It is always important to bring a camera so that you'll have something to remember your trip by. Key chains and T-shirts are also nice but what could beat a remembrance that has your face and the place you've been to on it?
