99 Reasons I Love Canada
I Love Canada
I love Canada. I am an unabashed patriot, and nothing will change that. Why do I love Canada, you ask. Well, let me count the ways. In no particular order or logic, here are ninety-nine reasons that I love Canada. This is my list, and I make no apologies for it. If you love Canada, too, then you will have your own. If you've never been, then consider a visit. We are that big piece of land located right above the USA. We are the True North, strong and free. I love Canada, and I am Canadian!
There are probably 1000 more reasons to love Canada, but these are 99 of mine.

EyeWitness Travel Guide to Canada
So these are my reasons for loving Canada. When my sister and I come back into Canada, we breath a sigh of relief, and say, "It's good to be back." We might complain about our country sometimes, and wish that some things were different, but I can't think of any place in the world that I would rather live. We might not have the history of the Europeans, or the status of the Americans, or the technology of the South Pacific, but what we do have is lots of space, lots of class, and lots of things that make us unique. We have imported major amount of talent to Hollywood, and many of the world's best bands and singers are from here. I am proud to be a Canadian, and love my country. I don't have to be an American to want to cry when I hear the National Anthem. I get goosebumps when I see that Canadian film on Remembrance Day, and I love hearing sly references to Canada on American T.V. programs. I have given my reasons to love Canada. What are yours?

Do you have reasons to add to the list? Or do you diagree with me on some of my points? Let me know!
Sounds like Canada is an amazing place, it is somewhere I'd love to visit. You got me on item 1. and 3. Then there were the bears and polar bears and Banff. Sigh, no wonder you are proud. And politicians that actually admit their mistakes, that's got to be a first.
With the exception of your misspelling of color and neighborhood, I agree with just about everything you say. Canada is a wonderful place, and we are proud to have you as our 51st state. Just kidding, of course. Keep up your fierce independence and never let those bullies down south get in the way of your happiness. Great hub!
this actually made me cry. I love and adore how patriotic and proud this is. I, coming from the Czech republic and living here, personally love Canada and Canadians soo much i probably couldn't describe, but this article is the closest you can get. Not saying i don't love my country, cause i really do, but there is just the spirit missing. And as a hockey fan...well...i don't even have to say...
However, great reasons :)
And here I thought it was the poutine.
My pleasure, Sharlee. I would love to go to Canada some day (with a passport nowadays) and would love to see you in my neck of the woods. You too!
Great hub, my friend. I've been to Canada once, two decades ago. I would love to visit Canada again sometime. Voted up!
I love your list. I can relate to so much of it. Being an Albertan, I can relate to the trees, rivers, mountains and lakes. Another favourite place of mine is Drumheller; perhaps it's time to go back there for a visit.
I have only been in the three western provinces, but would love to drive to the east coast, then through the territories. There is so much to see.
Howdy neighbor! :) Just saw this again and enjoyed it again. Meant to say that one day we want to drive the Alaska highway. It isn't just that we have grands in Alaska (viva grands!), but we would love to see that side of your country first hand.
I would love to visit Canada one day to look for information on some ancestors. One thing I really want to do is ride the railroad across Canada, the trip from one side to the other, and back, with lots of memory cards for my camera. I did not see the famous railroad mentioned, or perhaps I missed it. It is easy to miss a line in a long list.
And, maybe see Bigfoot, another thing I missed.
My family and I live in NW Oregon, and it is always a delight to visit Vancouver Island. The scuba diving in the clear, chilly waters near Nanaimo is a marvelous memory for me. While living on the East Coast, I had the pleasure of visiting the Province of Quebec and exploring the restaurants, and I thoroughly enjoyed that as well. I hope nothing ever comes between the USA and Canada! Canadians have so much natural beauty to be proud of, and I'm grateful that I've been able to access some of that scenery.
I am a proud Quebecer and a proud French-Canadian.
Love your hub!
Excellent reasons! I live in Oregon and enjoy every visit north. As a scuba diver, my interests take me to British Columbia and I enjoy time spent on Vancouver Island. You remind me that it's time to plan a return.
Bahaha!!! I love this list!!! I especially enjoyed #5- Reading cereal boxes in both languages... Most of my french skills comes from practising my pronunciation of the french words on my box of Cheerios.. That and the back of the shampoo bottle. lol.
I also like #37- Can you really only get coffee crisp in Canada? Mind. Blown. #38 I'm not too sure about... Univeristy is *crazy* expensive, at least in Ontario. They're getting a little out of hand with how much they charge to get an education... but I will agree, it's a damn good education that you get.
#88- I feel we should apologize for... lol.
Awesome hub. Made me smile. :)
Cheers!
Hi, i am new here but thanks to have something intreasting..Love you Canada!!
What an unbelievable hub. I was looking for something like this in honor of Canaday Day this week.
What a great country. I have some relatives living in Montreal and they all love Canada. They've shown me their participation playing Gamelan in Canada Day Parade taking place on July 1.
Pretty good Hub about Canada in that it makes me want to visit Canada, and I have no Canadian connection other than reading the Anne of Green Gables stories, and dog stories for children like "Silver Chief, Dog of the North", which makes me want to hike through northern forests someday.
Many of the things you mention about Canada remind me of Oklahoma, other than some slight differences like Oklahoma being flat, hot in summer, and prone to tornados....
I love Canadian Tire!
Quite an awesome shout-out to Canada!! Happy Canada Day to you!!
Well , I guess you told us now dintcha ! Did you mention some pretty awesome hubber-companions ! ++++++.....:-}
Super-awesome. Voted up!
I have been discovering Canada with my dog. Yes, I am hiking every nook and corner of it.
It will take me a very very long time to discover the entire country, but I will do it one square km by 1 square km.
I loved this Hub!! I LOVE Canada even more!
Awesome! Great hub. Quite a few on the list made me smile!
gOOD
Beautiful tribute to my country Canada.
Prairie Princess, you make me want to vacation in Canada, and I'm from the southern US and would probably freeze lol! And I *loved* Anne of Green Gables, too.

it is true that canada is the peacefull and the land of love and humanity.as a resident of pakistan i am proud to say here.but i don't have facility and easy way to be there.arbab hussain from greece (the worst country on earth planet)and i love canada so so so much....
It is very good to listen from you, off course i am agreeing with you. Canada is a good country and these reasons are quits fine. Good answer keep it up!!!!
Great choices. I'd add Leslie Nielson as reason #100 :)
I'm Scottish born, with a Newfie father...and now in Canada.
I don't blame you; if I lived there I would love it to. Great hub and I love that you love your country that much.
I love it when American and Canadian hockey and baseball teams play each other. It gives me the chance to get misty over my country's national anthem and then get misty over your country's national anthem. The United States is blessed to have such an awesome neighbor and partner. I love Canada and I love the pride Canadian's take in their blessed land. (SCTV - my sons are now in love with the DVDs)
We love, love, love Canada! Americans, yes, and we love our country, too, but we love our near neighbor and her people!!! Only visited once, but want to go back SO MUCH! :) It's beautiful, and we met wonderful people, finding them much like ourselves--duuuh ;) I can't remember what the stuff that's like french fries with gravy was called...
I saw a forum this week regarding destroying nationalism. Oh how I wanted to leave a note: "This is idiocy." People should be loyal to their families and their countries, and we should love our neighbors. We don't live in a perfect world, so we each need to be strong and respect each other's nations.
Your #43 would be a good topic to explore in a hub or maybe a forum. As Canada's population grows problems will arise from that stance, but that doesn't make the stance wrong. The problems will come from those who do not love and respect the country they migrate to, but want to change it and everyone in it to suit their world view. It would be great if these kind of people would walk in the front door and announce their intentions, but that's not how they work...this is for another venue though. :)
Can I say, "Viva Canada?" :)
My mother's people came from Canada. They are the French side.Maybe living so close to Canada we don't often think of going there. The last time we were there was quite a long time ago. They are a friendly people up there.
Wonderful - some of my favorites, too, princess! Great fun - especially SCTV!
Great list prairieprincess, I couldn't agree more, I tell my kids everyday how lucky we are to be born and raised in Canada! I count my blessings everyday. An I'm sure your right, there must be a thousand more reasons, but your list is a great start...
Very nice hub, hope to visit Canada someday in the near future :)
Very nice idea prairieprincess. Apart from about 3 hours at Niagra, I've never been to Canada, though I've got a couple of Canadian friends here in England, and it's certainly a country I'd like to visit in more depth. I've heard nothing but good reports from people who have spent holidays there. (Couldn't you shrink it a bit though, so a visitor can see more of the country in a 2 or 3 week stay!!)
Maybe your page should be the 100th good thing to say about Canada.
...i'll add a couple
Canadian maple syrup
Neil Young
Norval Morrisseau
P.E.T.
etc. etc. etc.
...and ya....it always feels soooooo gooooood comin' back!
I LOVE CANADA I was going to move to BC once . . We made many Canadian friends through Gooseberry Hill. wonderful people. Love all your ideas.
Love this! My hubby is from Toronto and we've gone to visit his family there about four times. It's hard traveling now with our daughter 'cause she's in a wheelchair. I really love visiting there and I know my husband will always be a true Canadian at heart!
prairieprincess...nothing to add, even though there may be some other things...but you covered a lot! Just wanted to wave the Canadian flag a bit...since I am a proud Canadian too! Cheers! Eh :)
A friend who worked in New Zealand said Canada offers better social benefits. A former classmate who used to work in London moved to Canada for the same reason and also to raise his kids in a better environment where parents are still respected. I, too, would like to visit Canada (and perhaps live and work there too, especially if I'd be able to adapt well to the cold.)
Thanks for creating this hub. :)
*Sorry for the double post.

My goodness! This hub just blew every other one I've seen out of the water. Great work!
Awesome hub! I love it, most of all because Tim Horton's made the top of the list! I can't believe the list of successful actors and singers that were born and raised in Canada...Jim Carrey...Justin Bieber...Michael J. Fox...the list goes on forever!
Happy Holidays:)
Wow I loved your hub! Your list is fantastic! Oh Canada Our Home And Native Land!
This was AWESOME! I'm now officially Canadian (as of September 2009, being sworn in as a citizen alongside my hubby!) after living in various places in Canada since May 1998. Canada is my chosen home and I LOVED this post - it's all so very true. Yukon is a place we absolutely fell in love with (couldn't live there in the winter, but it was a gorgeous precious place). I was trying to think of what I could add to this list, but it's pretty exhaustive. Our colourful language is probably something I appreciate - using so many native and regional and French/English words in every day talk. I love that my kiddos will have a whole new world open to them because of their Canadian-ness.
Thanks for this Hub. It definitely made me smile!
prairieprincess, it makes me long to go back to Canada. Wonderful hub. Voted up and beautiful.
Very enjoyable read. Went to Canada once, but really didn't get to see much for I was only passing through. I'll have to schedule a trip there to visit, been wanting to see Prince Edward Island. Author Lucy Maud Montgomery from Anne of Green Gables...my ultimate fav! P.S. I'll have to see about possibly buying some of that coffee too!
prarieprincess,
I lived almost three years in Canada and thoroughly enjoyed the wildnerness, but don't think I ever tasted Tim Horton's Coffee...keep hearing about it and think I should try it but I am kinda hooked on Kicking Horse 454 :)
God bless
CS
Bob Costa apparently likes the beavers as well - the Giant Inflatable sort. Really...when I was watching the Olympics and he said that, I lost it. After a brief moment glancing around to see if anyone else caught it...I completely lost it! Did anyone in Canada find it as amusing as we did?
Very impressive, you have me convinced that I need to plan my next vacation to Canada.
Great hub on Canada. There are so many neat attributes in the various provinces that I can see why you love it there.
Yeah, we have so many hispanics (legal and illegal) that everything is in Spanish and English. We are the one of the border states to Mexico.
Down here in Texas, we have everything in two different languages too. The most impressive reason on your list is the politicians' apologies for screwing up. Our politicians won't even admit they screw up.
One story of Canada that warmed my heart was told by a friend of mine. He was on an America-bound plane during the September 11th terrorist attacks on America. His plane was not allowed to land in America so it was diverted to Nova Scotia (I think). The passengers were resigned to spending their time at the airport until several Canadian residents came to the airport offering their homes to these displaced travelers. The Canadian people didn't know these Americans but they knew these Americans were in need. You won't find that kind of love for another human being in another place on earth. Even the hospitable state of Texas isn't as caring for other people.
What a beautiful hub on Canada. I am also a very proud Canadian from Winnipeg and have lived in other Provinces and traveled throughout the states. This is my home. I would never consider settling anywhere else. Rated up.
