Murudeshwara (or Murudeshwar/Murdeshwar) is a small town on the Konkan coast in Karnataka. The nearest main town is Bhatkal. The Konkan railway from Mangalore to Mumbai passes through this route. The bordering states are Kerala, Goa and Maharashtra.

Travelers can reach this coastal town by road or rail. The nearest airport is at Mangalore. The railway is the best option as it is safe, comfort, convenient and economic too.
From Mookambika Temple, Murdeshwara is 62 km away. From Byndoor Mookambika Road railway station, what it takes is just 30 km and can be reached in 40 minutes. So Mookambika visitors can easily include Murudeshwar too in their itinerary.

Please note that there are two Railway Stations with the name Mangalore. One is Mangalore CENTRAL and the other is Mangalore JUNCTION. Mangalore Junction is also known as Kankanadi and it is the newly built one on the Konkan route. All trains going to Goa and Mumbai are passing through the Mangalore Junction. Still, the busiest station is Mangalore Central.
There are plenty of trains from Mangalore Central and Mangalore Junction to Goa and Mumbai.
