A Tour of Covered Bridges in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Tourists come from all over to see the Amish farms, rolling fields, and back roads full of horse drawn carriages in Lancaster County, PA. One of the attractions are the many covered bridges of the county. Lancaster has 29 covered bridges. Parke County, Indiana (31 coverded bridges) is the only county in the country to have more.

The following is a list of the nine covered bridges closest to the City of Lancaster. They are arranged so that they can be driven to in order. This tour is a forty mile circle around Lancaster and the driving time is roughly an hour and twenty minutes. The first and last covered bridges are located close to the major highways of Rt. 222 and Rt. 30 respectively.

1. Pinetown Bushong's Mill Covered Bridge

Built: 1867, rebuilt 1973 after Hurricane Agnes, closed 2011 after Tropical Storm Lee
