A Visit To The Home Of Mark Twain:Hannibal, Missouri
It has been awhile since I have visited the mainland United States. Due to some pressing circumstances, my wife (Lastheart) and I made the trip to Missouri from our home in Puerto Rico. It has been a priority to see as much of the family as possible during this trip. This has made a Father's Day trip I will never forget.
Plans were made to meet my Mom in Hannibal, Missouri. I had never visited Hannibal and my wonderful wife had never visited the Midwest. Hannibal is the town that the great author, Mark Twain was from.
When we arrived in Hannibal, it felt as if I would meet Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn at any moment. The camera came out of the case and the pictures were snapped.
Here are some of the fantastic sites and things you can do in the small town of Hannibal, Missouri. It is a town located on the Mississippi River.
This is the town that Mark Twain was from. The town is primarily built around his memory. You will see the Mark Twain bridge. There are Mark Twain statues and pictures. You may want to stay in the Mark Twain Hotel. Visit the Mark Twain museum.
Below are some of the Mark Twain photographs we took. Don't skip visiting because you read this hub though. All these pictures still cannot give you the whole atmosphere that Hannibal offers you.
The architecture is simply amazing all throughout Hannibal. I found myself daydreaming of horses pulling wagons into the streets. The dreams of horses hooked to posts in front of the stores just kept coming.
As you walk through Hannibal, just gaze upon the brick structures that have been standing for many years.

If you love antiques, Hannibal is a place to visit.
You will find many antique shops and different museums. You can also find authentic Native American jewelry and clothing. You can dress like your in the old West. When you walk outside some of the shops, don't be surprised if there is a couple guys playing banjos and guitars with that old music that makes it feel like there should be no automobiles driving down the road.

You will have no difficulty finding something good to eat in Hannibal.
You can always go in one of the many diners or sometimes you can find hotdog stands outside. There are also wonderful ice cream and candy shops.
After you visit Hannibal, you may have to search out a weight watchers program.

The most memorable Mark Twain work is Tom Sawyer.
If you are not familiar with and of the Tom Sawyer books about young Tom, his friends, Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper and the girl he is infatuated with, Becky Thatcher, you need to read them. I will put some Amazon ads here where you can get a book about Tom Sawyer.
Hannibal has many objects that recognize Tom Sawyer and the other characters from Mark twains books about him.
You can tell throughout Twain's writings that he is using his hometown of Hannibal as the backdrop in the Tom Sawyer books.

It was a wonderful day. Mom arrived and my beautiful wife and my lovely Mother met each other face to face.
I felt an overwhelming blessing in seeing the top women in my life conversing.
I suggest that if you get the opportunity to visit the town of Hannibal, Missouri, do it!
