A contest to win a stay at a luxurious apartment near the city of Paris
The Travel experience
Life Lesson: Travel
In life we have many responsibilities that involve hard work and a lot of dedication. When we are young we are preoccupied with our schooling and need to prioritize that in our life because it is very important that we complete our schooling and then plan out our education beyond high school. For most of us we will embark on a college education which is essential in our overall success. As the need for education increases it seems the costs of obtaining a college education also increase so we have to find appropriate ways of meeting the financial demands that obtaining a college education require. I will address this in another hub entry because my focus in this hub is on an equally important subject which is obtaining a cultural education which you can not learn in a text book or a college course. The kind of education I am referring to is the education of travel and exploration.
If we are lucky enough in our young adulthood before we take on the responsibilities and challenges that are inevitable in our life we should at least try to travel abroad and see how life is like in a foreign country at least once. I had such an opportunity back in 1996 and I acted upon it after talking to my dad about it and it was one of my most favorite travel experiences and quite literally an opportunity of a lifetime. If such an opportunity comes your way you should take it and enjoy it because chances are that will be the only time such an opportunity will present itself for the majority of us.
Our perspectives in life are shaped by what we see and do in our daily lives. We for the most part are creatures of habit based on our upbringing and what we have grown accustomed to. We also are usually tied down with responsibilities of work, family and social engagements as we get older that makes it difficult to travel and be a free spirit when we were once young and broke and unable to afford such things.
If I could have a slight change every now and then from what I am used to I think it would be very healthy and a great learning experience. It does not matter when we decide to travel abroad.
It just matters that we find the time to do so and try to experience the joys of traveling to wonderful destinations we usually can only dream about with our family in tow.
If we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel while living in grand style to our dreams delight even if it is for only a week we must at least try to plan such a getaway for we will be tied down with responsibilities for a lifetime and the best time to travel realistically is when we are young and unattached but the sad reality is when we are young we are inexperienced and usually have no money. We therefore have to find creative ways to travel before we commit ourselves to work, family and a mortgage and try to learn that we may as well seize the moment when we can because that moment may not always be there for us!
Life is about learning and experiencing new things. For most of us life is about routines and responsibility which certainly helps define us and helps us in understanding who we are and who we become and teaches us to understand the bigger picture.
If I could teach my son something about life I would tell him that we will have days that seem typical and not that meaningful but we must enjoy each and every day and for the days that are truly special we should enjoy them as much as we can because we never know when we will have another opportunity to have such a wonderful time and experience.
Sometimes we have to create our own opportunities and we have to never lose sight of the true meaning of our lives and what we are here for which we will learn as we grow and mature. In living, doing and being. We must always try to bring out our very best from inside and never get discouraged no matter what the circumstance. Try to live and treasure all that is special.

Contest entry for stay in Luxury Apartment in Paris, France by Champs-Elysées
This contest I have been invited to compete in as suggested from a wonderful person who had a surprise message awaiting me in my inbox on the amazing site WAYN, which I just joined this weekend is like a dream come true for me.
It would be my very first opportunity to go on a sight seeing trip to Paris, France and to experience the beauty and luxurious accommodations that I usually only experience in pictures but to actually be invited to fully experience and live it would be the ultimate experience I would cherish for my lifetime as I am beset with hardship and could use such a wonderful getaway.
It would do wonders for me and help me reconnect with life as I have been suffering from severe depression and other life struggles including being a male to female transgender only coming out last year at age 51 and I knew in my heart and soul I was truly a "girl" since the age of 4.
I also am still very committed to my family and my son who has his own struggles as he is autistic and having a very difficult time. It would be wonderful for my family and myself to be awarded such a beautiful life experience as we have really been struggling of late and I even attempted to end my life so my wife would collect my life insurance and manage to stay at our house which is modest in size and does not even compare to this wonderful apartment nestled in the heart of Paris.
I studied the French language back in high school but the only time I really needed to speak it was on a brief vacation trip with some college friends in Montreal and Quebec, Ontario Canada. i was fortunate though that we were immediately recognized as tourists so we were not held to fluent French since sadly I forgot many aspects of the language but always had a love for it as it is a romantic language.
As I wish of such an opportunity to actually experience life in Paris and in such a wonderful apartment in such an ideal setting I can't help but envision in my mind what it would be like to actually live and experience such a lovely experience depicted in such beautiful pictures and described in such detail that I would enjoy being there living and experiencing it this very moment.
This wonderful exercise in writing and the opportunity really inspires me to put forth my best effort in sharing my views and feelings. I love the spaciousness of the apartment and can see how much of a wonderful place it is to live.
If only such a miracle like this could actually happen would be such a great learning experience and wonderful joy to share with my wife, son and mother-in-law. My son would certainly benefit from the experience and it would be a life dream fulfilled for both my wife and myself as we already have plans of what we would love to see and do.
Even just living in such a beautiful apartment for the time allowed in the promotion would be enough for us but when you combine it with experiencing life in the city of Paris it just makes me smile and appreciate the beauty of the city, the country, the people and the living accommodations.
I would find it extremely exciting to be able to relearn my French and have the opportunity to travel to Paris, France with my family and live in such a beautiful apartment while trying my best to speak the language with confidence.
The opportunity would be such an exciting experience to be presented with which would touch my heart and send a chill down my spine if we had the good fortune to live in such a beautiful fully furnished apartment even though it would be for a brief moment in our life.
The experience though, shared with my family in such a wonderful city and apartment would reside in our memory for a lifetime. I would actually cry and be very emotional if we were lucky enough to qualify to experience this dream apartment and lovely city of Paris, the place of dreams, romance and joys shared in shopping that famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées for such beautiful women's fashions and fine dining.
I imagine walking through the narrow streets of Paris rather than driving and walking all through out the majestic city viewing such wonderful attractions as the L'Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysee, the Bastille and the Eiffel tower all in a day and then some. It would be a remarkable and memorable experience I can only imagine at this point.
The tunnel underpass where Princess Diana sadly was killed would be very sad and very emotional and I'm not sure if I would want to see it as it breaks my heart as Lady Di was truly a wonderful and beautiful person.
From my early recollections in studying the French language back when I was a teenager in high school I remember many tourist sites and the bridges that run through the city of lights like the Pont Neuf bridge which is truly historic having been made from stone.
It would be quite a wonder to be with my family in a new place not really knowing how to get around. I would have to map out the journey from our luxurious apartment making mental notes along the way with a map of the city in hand as we set out to experience the city of Paris for the allotted time we would be entitled to.
We would just walk in the direction of all the main attractions that bring many people here to this great city. We would try to locate notable sites like the Eiffel Tower while referencing landmarks from our walk so we don't get lost on our journey.
We would also have to explore getting around the city with the Metro which seems the most logical way to explore the many attractions Paris has to offer.
I know my son would be curious where a McDonalds can be found as that is like a comfort place for him and what city doesn't have one? Even Paris has a McDonalds!
I'm sure we would also encounter people who have fallen on hard luck asking for some help but I would not really know an appropriate amount of euros to provide them as I realize sadly this occurs in all major cities.
I believe in my heart the right thing to do is to try to help those in need as best you can but sadly it seems we can not help everybody. I seem to encounter so many street people in New York and wonder if Paris also has the same social problems which I would be inclined to think.
It is sad to think of their plight as we would be treated like royalty in our very own beautifully maintained apartment nestled within site of the city.
I believe we would also need to take advantage of resting at times trying to study the map of Paris as we eagerly look forward to visiting as many sites as we can in a day. We would also have to realize that we would need to combine our walking with the Metro to get to see as much as possible each day we have to see the great city of Paris.
It would be hard to do a lot of walking with our mother-in-law so I believe she would be perfectly content staying back at the apartment while our son would also eventually tire of walking as well so we would really have to plan what we would do each day and hope we have enough time to see most everything we possibly can like the historic church Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Arc de Triomphe, the Bastille as we walk in the city of Paris taking it all in and capturing it with photographs which is a must.
I know it will be very exciting experiencing all the wonderful sites and the people as it would be something new and we certainly will enjoy the time together in such a beautiful place.
I know I would have to pinch myself to actually believe we are actually here in Paris, France with the finest of living accommodations.
It would also be very handy to have a walking GPS app on an Apple I phone that I would have to invest in for the trip if I could afford to but given our current financial situation that would seem unlikely but would be so very convenient.
As a student of French history I know the Bastille monument represents French Independence and would be a must to see.
I believe the city of Paris recently celebrated the 850 year anniversary of the Notre Dame sometime in 2013 which seems incredible and also a must see.
I believe a highlight would be to walk the Champs Elysee with many people milling about and seeing all the sidewalk cafes where we would see people including other tourists enjoying their lunch or dinner as we stroll the avenue.
I would need my camera in tow to take as many pictures as I could to capture what we would be experiencing and to have the opportunity to share such beautiful sites on Facebook and WAYN.
We would also have to take many pictures of the luxurious apartment capturing each and every room with the family in the pictures as well so we would have living proof of living briefly in a dream like place far away from home that we would feel sad to depart when the time warrants us to leave on our last day there which i know would be emotional.
I may not always capture perfect pictures but to me pictures are personal and a way of remembering special occasions and this certainly would be one of those special occasions to truly appreciate and treasure and we would have given our son a wonderful life experience as a gift for being selected as the lucky winner which is a dream.
As we experience our walking journey I believe i will be thinking fondly of my French teacher back in the 9th grade who taught me the language and the many memorable sites. As we stop to visit a site I would think about her as she exposed me to the beautiful language and the culture of France and the cosmopolitan city of Paris.
As we walk I'm sure we will be struck by the people and how they are just like us though they speak a foreign language to us but which is their native tongue. I would soak it all up and hold the experiences near to my heart. We would most likely see young mothers with their babies, parents walking with their school age children, Different religious affiliations such as those of the Jewish faith like I see in New York City walking fully dressed observing their sabbath on Saturday.
I also know we would be very happy experiencing the beauty of Paris and its people. I know in my heart I would want this experience to never end if we are lucky enough to win this trip and stay of a lifetime.
I also would love seeing all the street merchants and artists showcasing their works with their many paintings, lithographs, pictures and books of the Eiffel tower, The Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, the Notre Dame, the Jardin des Tuilleres, and the Champs Elysee among other beautiful sites of Paris.
I feel so inspired writing this that it seems like I am living it in my mind as I have seen many Youtube videos of Paris and have a good idea of what such a trip would be like.
We would marvel at the life like portrayals in the artworks and I would find that it really strikes a chord with me as my dad was an artist in his spare time and he too put a lot into his works and he was so very creative. I appreciate that creativity and would always encourage it.
If we have the good fortune of seeing the Notre Dame I know the architecture and the beauty of the historic church which dates back to 1163 would be truly amazing and delightful to see.
I would attempt to take so many pictures there trying my best to capture the beauty and the splendor of it. I'm sure there would be long lines to gain entry into the church but it would be nice to finally see what my French teacher taught us about as young high school students.
I can only imagine how beautiful it must be inside and would feel very close to the lord as I walk inside admiring the stained glass windows and the many beautiful monuments of Mary and the baby Jesus. I would sit and pray and feel at peace amongst all the visitors hoping our son would exhibit patience in this historic church which is such a vital part of the country of France and the city of Paris and its glorious history.
I'm sure my mother-in-law would truly enjoy the Notre Dame as she is a very religious woman as we look forward to seeing the other beautiful sites of Paris.
My next wish would be to experience the intimate parts of the city with all its bridges as we get a glimpse into the wonders of Paris with its beautiful and historic bridges that cross the Seine and the city.
I would probably try to take as many pictures as well as capture it in my mind and have the photograph serve as a reminder. Sadly those mental images are fleeting but the memories will be there and the pictures will tell the story. There are so many bridges that intersect the city and I am reminded by my French teacher that they are referred to as Pont in the French language.
As we continue on with our walking journey in Paris we would have to try to spend some time at the Louvre which is home to the most famous art works in the world including the Mona Lisa.
I know we would also admire the museum from outside as it is so impressive and stretches for quite a distance and unique in its own architecture and style. I know this from my lessons in French class all these many years later which is a testament to my French teacher Ms. Velazquez who made quite an impression on me.
I would also want to walk to the Place de la Concorde which stands tall and is fairly close to the many fountains and the most beautiful gardens.
The famous jardin de Tuillieres is quite beautiful and breathtaking. I would spend time there also taking many pictures remembering my French teacher talking about these beautiful gardens.
To my knowledge the Eiffel Tower is not that far from the garden and that would probably be the most sought out attraction in Paris so we would probably have to book ahead of time to see the full historic monument.
As I learned in school the most popular avenue of the world is The Champs Elysee which is quite a delight. Lined up are sidewalk cafes, stores, eateries and popular fasion boutiques. It is easily one of the most sought out places to be in Paris.
It would be exciting walking on the avenue in the heart of Paris for the very first time walking the famous street towards the Arc de Triomphe which is one of the many popular symbols of Paris.
The Arc de Triomphe is another site you must capture in photographs and from all four vantage points to get the full appreciation of it. It truly is a remarkable landmark and would be far more interesting seeing it in person as it must be another popular site heavily photographed.
I know I would plan to take lots of pictures and am so grateful I have a digital camera but I would want a large memory capacity to take both pictures and video to share on Facebook, Youtube and WAYN.
It would take a lot of time and a strong passion to take in as many sites of the city which would make the walk both memorable and tiring so we would certainly need to rely a lot on the Metro as well because it will be all new to us and we would need to get back to that beautiful apartment waiting for us which also would be something to look forward to after such a tiring and enjoyable walk for the day.
We would have to also stop to eat and also stock up at the apartment with groceries and would expect reasonable proximity to stores and the Metro within the vicinity of the apartments.
I know many people who visit Paris fall in love at first sight and I am sure we will fall in love with the apartments that I admired in photographs but to fully appreciate it we would have to be there to live and experience it so I could right a marvelous review and share the real story if we are lucky enough.
It took a lot of imagination and deep reflection to write this piece and i know in my heart as my mom and dad would always tell me which is you can't get that upset if you are not selected if you know you tried your best and wrote from your heart.

If we were fortunate enough to experience a stay there we would truly enjoy it and I know I would share a very memorable experience that will stay with us for the rest of our life. I would be in my glory walking in Paris, France in beautiful dresses and feeling so feminine. I am lucky I have accepting family and a son I am so proud of. This would do wonders for our family as we all need a getaway and what better place then Paris, France! My son would want to know everything about the Eiffel Tower and by the end of the trip will be discussing all that he had learned on a trip that would be truly enlightening and very enjoyable.
One of my dear friends once said the following simple statement but it definitely says it all as I will share this last piece with you in this writing.
A quote from my friend who traveled to Paris and told me a few years ago this to the best of my recollection.
"Once you go to Paris you will fall in love with the country, the shops, the food, the attractions and would wish to go back to experience it again and really take it all in and hold on to the very special memories of the beauty and wonders of a magnificent city with my loved ones".

Business trip to France in pictures
Business trip to France
Work sometimes provides opportunity to travel. I was fortunate to work for VJ Technologies, in Bohemia, New York, a company that is cutting edge with engineers, accountants and other professionals. In my tenure there I wanted to play an important role and make an impact that was felt in a positive way for the company, it's staff and it's client base.
We all wish to travel and experience what life is like in foreign countries and to have a taste of the many different cultures and to have the opportunity to see new places while enjoying meeting the employees working abroad for the affiliated companies of those foreign lands we have a chance to visit. I have has the good fortune of traveling to Europe to England, Scotland and Wales as a young man before I married. I am still married with a son and transitioning from male to female which I struggled with since age 4. It is my dream to walk the streets of Paris in pretty dress as Emily and enjoy living and presenting as a female. I very much enjoyed my business visit to France and to work with Apostolos and his accountant, Alexandra. We don't often have these opportunities so when the chance comes it is something I welcome with eager anticipation.
Life is about accepting opportunities where we get to challenge ourselves, learn the business and collaborate with professionals in a joint effort as part of a team with a specific goal in mind. I enjoyed meeting the director of the French operations on his visit to the New York office and I welcome visiting and working with him in Paris, France at his office. I wish I had a better command of the French language but am far removed from it since it was back in high school that I last spoke it. I took 3 years of French and remember some words but relied on Apostolos ability to speak English fluently.. French is a language I would love to speak and learn if ever I would travel back to France.
I enjoyed taking in some of the sites in Paris and dining in some of the restaurants as well. I feel that this was a very important part of the trip and I certainly enjoyed the chance to experience life in Paris for the weekend after the full work week. Some of the sites of the city I got to see were the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Les jardin des Tuileries, Notre dame, The Bastille and the many bridges in Paris in addition to the Le Place de la Concord.
Traveling allows us to expand our horizons and to see other places of the world that we don't often get to see. Business trips allow us to grow professionally and to experience working in other parts of the world we don't often get to and working with people of other cultures who teach us more about life and allow us to gain a whole fresh new perspective.
As I prepared for my trip home I was eager to get home to my family and I also enjoyed my stay with Apotolos and I learned a great deal and had some time to take in the sights of Paris. It was an opportunity I will never forget and I thank Satya, Vijay and Apostolos for making it happen. I would love to plan a week stay in Paris with my family to enjoy the many wonderful site and pleasures unique to the cosmopolitan city of Paris, France.
Je veut travaille en Paris avec mon amis et voir le sites.
