How Do You Get Used To The Cold Weather

A lot of people ask me "How do you deal with the winters there? It is just way too cold!" Well, to put it simply, you just have to adapt. Like every change in life, you have to learn how to be a chameleon and integrate yourself whole-heartedly.

It is important to come prepared though. I recommend packing a winter coat that will keep you warm and cozy in up to -20C° weather, just to be on the safe side! Warm wool socks are also a must, especially if you do not have proper winter waterproof boots.

At first the cold may be a shocker but it sure beats sitting inside, watching Netflix all winter long. You just have to embrace the change in temperatures and get active!

Liz Westwood, thank you! You are very kind!

George Johnson, thank you! I appreciate the kind words. To answer your questions, you will not need to know French in Old Quebec as they are used to the tourists coming into town, however, they do appreciate the effort! Even just a quick "Bonjour" (Hello) or a simple "Comment ca va?" (How are you), will get you some friendly service. The ice hotel is being held at "Village Vacances Valcartier" right outside the Canadian military base in Valcartier, Quebec. It is about a 35 minute drive north from Quebec City. Here is the link:

Great photos. I have some questions. Will I need to know French and can you provide more info on the ice hotel?
