Cool Things About New York City

Updated on November 24, 2013

Best things about New York

I currently live in Florida and I love it here, but my hometown will always be New York. People usually either hate New York or they love it.

Here are the reason why I love NY

#1 The Food

I have never been outside of the US so I cannot compare the food to foreign countries, but I will say that I have never eaten food anywhere else that tastes quite like the food in NY.

Here is a list of must try foods

  • Bagels
  • Pizza
  • Chinese Food
  • Coney Island Hot Dog/Or a Hot Dog from a Vendor in NYC
  • Bread
  • Knishes
  • White Castle Hamburgers
  • Hero or Deli Sandwiches – For some who do not know, it is otherwise called – Hoagie or Sub
  • Black and White Cookies/Or any Bakery for that matter

New York City Night Life

#2 The Night Life

There are literally thousands of Clubs, Bars and Lounges to choose from. The good thing is, you can find one that suits your taste. Even if you do not enjoy going out to bars or clubs, you can just walk around and enjoy the people. You will always find interesting people. There are also shows, plays or comedy clubs you can attend. Restaurants and shops are either open all night or really late. New York is the city that never sleeps!

Here is a list of some of the top nightlife places

  • Buddha Bar
  • Heartland Brewery
  • Bolo Resturant and Bar
  • Manhanttan Sky NightClub
  • PM Lounge NightClub
  • Citrus Bar and Grill
  • Beauty Bar
  • Comic Strip Live
  • Dangerfield's
  • Gotham Comedy Club

New York City Trains and Buses

#3 The transit system

I did not know how much I really liked buses and trains until I did not have any around. I have a car, but it is very convenient to just jump on a train or a bus and go where you need to go. I do have buses where I am living now, but they run only once an hour. In NY the buses and trains run consistently so even if you miss one, there will be another shortly. It saves a lot of money on parking and gas and you do not have to worry about a designated driver if you are going out drinking.

Street Vendor

Places to Shop in New York

#4 Shopping

If you want a variety of shops, then NY is the place for you. You can find any store imaginable. Whether you are looking for your average department store or really unique items, you are bound to find it. I also love the fact that they have street vendors. You do not even have to enter a store to shop. The streets are like one big Flea Market.

Places to shop in NYC

  • Fifth Avenue
  • Times Square
  • SoHo
  • China Town
  • Greenwich Village
  • Lower Manhattan
  • Down Town Brooklyn

New York - One of the most unique places in the world

There are many things that make NYC amazing. I love the bright lights and the view you get at nighttime. The diversity of NY also makes it very special. People from all different backgrounds come together to form one of the most unique places on earth. If you have never been there, you should visit at least one time!

Thank you mailxpress. It seems when we live somewhere we take for granted the things around us. Do you believe that I actually never went to the Statue of Liberty. I saw it almost every day, but never actually went on Ellis Island. Now I wish I would have!

Excellent Hub. I live 40 minutes away from NY and I feel I should go visit. I don't visit that often. I guess I'm due for a visit. NY should thank you for the Advertising.
