Updated on May 31, 2011

Things To Do In Atlanta - Places To Visit In Atlanta

Atlanta is the “most happening” city in the South and for a good reason too. This bustling city located in the Peach State is full of amazing tourist spots guaranteed to liven up your next vacation. Time is of the essence and with a million places to see and a gazillion things to do, I’m going to narrow the list down to the five places you absolutely must visit while in Atlanta.

Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium is the top tourist attraction in Atlanta and it’s located right in the heart of downtown at 225 Baker Street, Atlanta, GA 30313. With over 8 million gallons of water, the Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world. The aquarium has a 4D Theater that will blow your mind and also offers plenty of programs to cater to all ages. I highly recommend the “Behind the Scenes Tour”.

World of Coca-Cola

Right across from the Georgia Aquarium is the famous and incredibly popular World of Coca-Cola. Conveniently located at 121 Baker St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30313, this little gem provides a very entertaining look at the history of the world’s top soft drink. If you’re looking for something challenging to do in Atlanta, why don’t you stop by the World of Coca-Cola and see how many international brands of soda your stomach can handle?

Centennial Park

After sampling soft drinks from around the world, take a break by relaxing in the magnificent Centennial Park a stone throw’s distance away at 285 International Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30313. Beautiful with well maintained green grass and plenty of benches, this spectacular park is exactly what the doctor recommended to help you catch your breath in between exploring the city fondly referred to as “Hotlanta”.

CNN Center

Fresh off your mini-break at the Centennial Park, stride across the street to the world renowned CNN Center where you can unleash your inner Anderson Cooper by recording yourself reading the news off a teleprompter just like your favorite anchors. Don’t forget to stop by the CNN center food court for some of the tastiest food in Atlanta and if you sneak a peek towards the end of the food court, you’ll catch a glimpse of Phillips Arena.

Zoo Atlanta

No vacation is complete without swooning over a couple of adorable animals and this is where Zoo Atlanta comes in. Visiting the zoo is the one thing you absolutely must do while in Atlanta. Located at 800 Cherokee Ave. SE, Atlanta, GA 30315 in Fulton County, the Zoo Atlanta is home to the world’s most adorable pandas – Lun Lun, Yang Yang and Xi Lan.

Enjoy "Hotlanta"

There’s never a dull moment in Atlanta so you’ll never find yourself wondering about things to do in Atlanta but should you find yourself with time to kill and a gas of tank, simply drive into downtown and explore the five attractions mentioned above.
