For most tourists visiting any country, the activities that will be available at the final destination are one of the most relevant things. Nobody wants to go to an exotic location and spend the whole vacation locked up in a hotel room staring out of the window. The fun part of going to any country like Botswana is getting the opportunity to visit many interesting places. For those hoping to visit the Gaborone district, you will be pleased to know that there will be a lot to do to keep you busy and entertained during your stay.

National Museum and Art Gallery

For those looking to be inspired by local art and learn a bit more about the local culture of Botswana, visiting the national museum and art gallery is worth a visit. It is always a nice experience to get away from the busy streets and enjoy a moment of meditation. For artists looking for inspiration, admiring the work of others can be insightful.

Gaborone Game Reserve

The capital of Botswana boasts something that most capitals can’t offer. That is having a game reserve in an accessible location. In most capitals, you will be offered a Zoo if you want to see wild animals. The Gaborone game reserve is worth a visit for anyone visiting Botswana because you get to see wild animals like ostriches wildebeest, springbok and many more.

Gaborone Dam

The Gaborone dam is huge and a source of water for the capital. It is a nice tourist attraction and will provide an interesting day out for anyone willing to take the time. It looks like a lake but it is not advised to jump in and take a swim. That is because you don’t want to be swimming with crocodiles. However it is a good place to bring some food for a picnic and appreciate the majesty of the man made lake and the animals that dwell there.

Mokolodi Nature Reserve

Another national wildlife location that tourists will appreciate is the Mokoldi nature reserve, like the Gaborone game reserve, it is packed with wild animals and birds for visitors to appreciate. This reserve is excellent for those with children as it has an education centre to help future generations appreciate working and interacting with nature.

Kgale Hills

For those who want to keep fit and get a beautiful view of Gaborone, the Kgale hills is a nice little attraction in the capital of Botswana worth visiting. It takes a lot of leg work to get to the top but the view is splendid and worth the effort. Bring some food with you for a nice picnic and enjoy watching Gaborone spread out below you, with all of its hustle and bustle.

Although Botswana itself has many wonderful attractions outside its capital Gaborone, it is refreshing to know that even this city can offer a number of pleasant day outings. Combined with the traditional big game hunt or game watching safari, exploring Gaborone can round out any trip to this part of Africa.
