Badshahi Mosque Introduction

Badshahi mosque is situated in Pakistan second Largest city Lahore. Badshahi mosque constructed by sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Badshahi mosque is second largest mosque in Pakistan after Shah Faisal Mosque Islamabad.

Due to beautiful construction Badshahi mosque is Lahore most famous and visited place. Mosque can accommodate fifty five thousand worshipers in prayer hall and further ninety five thousand in courtyard. Due to importance of mosque government of Pakistan included mosque in world heritage list. Badshahi mosque is also a part of UNESCO world heritage list.

Badshahi Mosque Construction

The construction of Badshahi mosque was started by orders of sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Construction of beautiful mosque was completed in about two years. The Mosque was built just opposite the Lahore fort and near the MInrar Pakistan.

The foundation and structure of mosque was completed using bricks and clays. Red sand stone tiles are widely used in construction of mosque. The construction work was carried out under the supervision of Mudhal emperor Aurangzeb Brother. When mosque was completed it was largest mosque in mughal empire.

Badshahi Mosque Social and Cultural Value

When mosque was completed it was seen distance of several kilometers. Mosque had great cultural, and social value in Mughal empire. The architecture and design of Badshahi mosque is similar to the Jama Mosque in Delhi India.

Jama mosque Delhi was also built by Mughals. Red sandstone tiles are widely used in construction of both mosques. Mosque design was inspired by Persian, Asian and Indian architecture. Despite long span of time mosque is still in good condition. Government of Pakistan made special arrangements for local people and tourists.

Badshahi mosque still have great social and cultural value in Pakistan. Several delegates of Islamic countries and other big personalities including Britain princes Dian has visited famous Badshahi mosque. Government has setup big museum in mosque premises. Several important things belongs to Islamic early age are also a part of museum. Large number of people visited this museum every day.

Badshahi Mosque World Heritage Site

The government of Pakistan recommended the inclusion of Badshahi mosque as a world heritage site in UNESCO'w world heritage list. Due to historical value of Badshahi mosque government and concern authorities are trying hard to maintain and preserver original structure of mosque and provide all facilities to visiting people.
