Balicasag: Dive Sites Black Forest and Diver's Heaven

Our stay at Bohol was a wonderful experience - and what made it really magnificent was our dive at Balicasag, Panglao :)

We arrived Tagbilaran, Bohol's capital, at 6:15PM from Cebu. We stayed at El Portal Inn which was recommended at Trip Advisor and they had a staff waiting for us at the Pier for the free shuttle to the hotel.

Early the next morning we were off to Lost Horizon Hotel at Alona Beach, Panglao - our meetup place for our dive with Bohol Fun Divers. From Alona Beach we would be riding a boat to the dive sites.

Coming from Tagbilaran, the tricycle ride to Panglao took us about 45minutes. We arrived at the resort at about 7:40AM since they told us in the email that the dive would be at 8:30AM. Unfortunately we would be diving with someone who is coming from a ferry ride from Cebu. Our dive was pushed back to 9:30AM. I tried snorkelling at the shore of Alona but it was full of sea grass and was really shallow. It did have good photo opportunities since there were a lot of starfish/ sea star along the area.

Finally, our dive started...

We had two dives, 1st dive at dive site Black Forest, 2nd dive at dive site Diver's Heaven. Breakdown for the diving price as follows: Diving Ticket - 100P, Boat Dives including dive master - 1245P (per dive), Complete Rental Equipment - 345 (per dive)

Dive 1: Black Forest

10:31am; 55mins underwater; maximum 22m/72ft; visibility 20m

Lots of Sea Turtles at Black Forest and two large groupers/local term 'lapu-lapu'.

Dive Site: Diver's Heaven

12:51PM; 47mins underwater; maximum 20m/60ft; visibility 20m

Diver's Heaven had lots of big nudis and colorful fish, but it looked just like Anilao (our go to dive place) - nothing new at our 2nd dive.

Our experience with Bohol Fun Divers was good - they answer email quickly, had good dive masters (ours was toto) and equipments. The only major turn-off was they had no decent shower room. You can contact them via email at or
