About Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India
Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a part of Indian Republic and is a union territory. The capital city of Andaman is Port Blair and the capital city of Nicobar is Car Nicobar. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a part of 572 islands in the Bay of Bengal, where in only 34 islands are inhabited. There are beautiful beaches in many of the islands where you can visit for your vacation.
How to reach Andaman and Nicobar Islands?
There are only two ways to reach Andamans, by air and by sea.
If you are travelling by air, you can get connection flights from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai to the Veer Savarkar international airport in Port Blair. The time taken will be about 2 hours for adirect flight from Chennai and Kolkata while the flights from Delhi fly via Chennai or Kolkata and take about 5 hours.
If you are travelling by sea, then you can get connections from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam ports. You can find only 3-4 sailings in a month to Port Blairand they are not luxurious cruise liners. The time taken will be 3-4 days.
Best time to visit Andamans
Any time of the year is a good time to visit Andamans. During summers you will find the beaches a good place to be in. Winter is also not that chilly and will be pleasant.Monsoon will see copious rainfall but most of the hotels and resorts give you discounts which will be very attractive.
Radha Nagar Beach
Radha Nagar Beach is located at about 12 kilometers from the ferry pier of the Havelock Islands and has been awarded "Asia's best beach" by the Time Magazine. The beach has fine white sand, a lot of calm and peace and the turquoise blue waters are the hall mark of the this beautiful beach. The Island is a very small one, just about 2 kilometers long and about 30 to 40 meters wide.
The beach is one of the best to get fresh air which is free from pollution found in a city life. There are lots of activities one can pursue here, namely, scuba diving, snorkeling, game fishing, swimming and many more. The Beach has some of the best diving centers of the Andaman Islands.
Radha Nagar was once the capital of these Islands during the British era. Nowadays you can see most of the city in ruins. There is a small museum named Smritika which holds photographs from the bygone era and the antiques of the Britishers which were relevant during the period and the islands
Corbyn's Cove Beach
Corbyn's Cove Beach is a serene, pristine, soft and sandy, coconut palm fringed beach located at about 6 kilometers from Port Blair the capital city of Andman & Nicobar Islands. This is the only beach in the city and is ideal for basking in the sun, surfing and bathing.
Snake Island which is well known for Scuba Diving is located close to Corbyn's Cove. It would be difficult to reach Corbyn's Cove if you do not have an hired vehicle as you will not find any public transport. Other than Scuba Diving you can try your hand at surfing and boating.
The Peerless Sarovar Portico Resort is the only beach resort inside the capital city. The resort has 50 rooms and cottages well furnished and well appointed. All the rooms in the resort have splendid views of the sea and the gardens of the resort. There are 30 garden view rooms, 16 sea view rooms and 4 cottages.

Vijay Nagar Beach
Vijay nagar Beach is one of the beaches in Havelock Islands, loved by tourists and most sought after by all visitors. Vijay agar Beach is located on the eastern part of the Havelock coast. The beach is a long curved sweep of sand and surrounded by hard wood trees like Mahua.
Havelock Islands seem like a village from the rural parts of India cast adrift in the sea. You can see women dressed in sarees, cows ambling on the roads and children playing around.
There are some rocky sections in the beach which you might bump into and has a perfect setting for a quiet walk. There are also Mahua trees growing along the coast giving an unusual look to the coast line as well as shade to the visitors to the beach.

Elephant Beach also known as Haathi Tapu in Hindi, seems to have derived the name due to the fact that Elephants used to walk through this region. Elephant Beach is similar to all other beaches but has clear blue waters and a rich marine life. You can spot some of the rare species like sea horse or fringe lip flat head. These are supposed to be treats for underwater photographers especially for Macro shots.
Elephant beach can be reached by small cruise boats from Havelock. You can also opt for the tour packages offered by the ferry operators who run trips to and from Havelock to Elephant Beach.
Wandoor Beach is located at about 25 kilometers to the west of Port Blair, the capital city of Andamans. This beach is well known for swimming and coral viewing. You will enjoy the trip from Port Blair to Wandoor since the journey is through lush green hills and forests
Wandoor is a small fishing hamlet and you can easily reach Wandoor rom Port Blair by an hired taxi or a bus in less than an hour. There are some hotels and resorts, where you can stay, in the beach area.
Conducted tours are available from Port Blair to Wandoor. You can also avail that service if you do not want to travel alone.
Accommodation Facilities at Wandoor Beach
