Beautiful Island

Updated on March 21, 2011

People have hubbies and things they love to do and I am not left aside in this phenomenon. However, though I love sports especially football but one of my main hubbies is visiting places, touring new places and meeting new people, learning about other people and their culture fascinates me in away I cannot describe in writing so it was not  a surprise to my colleagues when I chose to visit the Caribbean Island. The Caribbean has so many Islands in it and I cannot visit all of them one time because I am not an associate of Bill Gate so I have to choose just One Island to visit but all the Islands in the Caribbean are beautiful as I was told so deciding on which one to visit has to be a kind of gamble therefore I decided to throw a dice on the map and visit whichever Island my dice landed on but the map sheet I had was so small that my dice could not rest on just One Island so I decided to write down all the Islands in the Caribbean in piece of papers, fold and scramble them on the floor then make a pick.

“What a pick I thought when I unfolded the piece of paper and realized that my pick was Cuba.”

I have heard so many terrible things about Cuba and most of my close aids were surprised at my choice but I really have to keep my word to visit whichever country I picked so that was why I could not change my pick therefore the issue of Bahamas as Mike suggested was simply out of the question, I am a man of my word so visiting Cuba became a non negotiable choice after all, I have been to Kumar in Panama and I know that Cuba is not like that part of the world but the first impression I got upon arriving at the Jose Martin International Airport Havana Cuba was a moving one, an impression which led me to a thoughtful conclusion about the Cuban people, believe me all the terrible things I heard about Cuba are nothing but trash because the sight of the good road, beautiful hotels, schools, hospitals, beaches and parks all made me to believe that we were been fed with dirty lies about that beautiful Island, there are so many Embassies and Consulates in Havana so why is Cuba considered Isolated? Why the blockade and trade embargo by the United States of America? Believe me, Cuba is a paradise worth visiting because they have so many beautiful infrastructures, basic Amitie of life and above all, the basic human rights are rightly in place. In Cuba, Education is free from Nursery to the University, free health care for the masses while food and housing are among the government’s top priorities besides Cuba has a system better than apatite

“The system in Cuba is that which builds people and not just nation, a system which molds individuals.”

I don’t understand why some people consider Fidel Castro a communist because the government in Cuba is that of the people, a government which provides for its Citizens, Cubans are law abiding, hardworking, friendly and highly respectful therefore, I would say that if the provision of all basic human needs and love for the masses makes one a communist then I am a communist and I wish that my own country Nigeria will someday have a charismatic and inspirational leader like Fidel Castro Luz because with his ideas, Cubans now ranks among one of the top ten countries in Olympic gold medals and the country itself has a bunch of well trained doctors, teachers, engineers, soldiers, policemen/women writers, athletes and film makers etc. Though I spent more days in Havana because most of the actions in the country lies there but I also visited Santa Clara another major city and while in Cuba, I realized that the word foreigner means friend therefore, in conclusion, the Cuba I now carry in my heart is quite different from the one I previously have in my head, thanks to all the special and nice people parading in that beautiful paradise and like they say in Cuba; HASTA VICTORIA SIEMPRE.

Some places of attraction in Cuba are:

Plaza de Revolucion, Plaza de armas, plaza  José Martín, Habana Catedral, Capitolio, Marlicon, Plaza de las Palomas, Lanchas de Reglas, El Moro Cabaña, Santa María Beach, Aquarium  nacional de Cuba, casa  de José Martín, Monumento de Che Guevara.

Important tip if you get to Cuba:

You can stay in a hotel if you want but it is cheaper to rent a place, there are so many individuals who are licensed to rent rooms, apartments and houses and there is one nice person i met in Cuba who can be of any kind of assistance.

YUDITH HERNANADEZ and her cell number is:

Outside cuba: +15353298275 and while in Cuba just dial 53298275

.

Viva la Revolucion.
